Sidewalk Prophets, “Keep Making Me”

Sidewalk Prophets has released Keep Making Me as the new single off Live Like That, its third single now from the release. So far, the band has earned two straight Top 10 hits, and from the looks of it, the streak will easily continue with Keep Making Me. An easy going ballad asking for God’s help in transforming us into what He wants us to be, Keep Making Me is easily singable and instantly likeable. Another surefire hit from a Contemporary Christian band that has recently earned the accolades it so richly deserves.

KEEP MAKING ME Lyrics
Sidewalk Prophets

Make me broken
So I can be healed
‘Cause I’m so calloused
And now I can’t feel
I want to run to You
With heart wide open
Make me broken

Make me empty
So I can be filled
‘Cause I’m still holding
Onto my will
And I’m completed
When you are with me
Make me empty

‘Til You are my one desire
‘Til You are my one true love
‘Til You are my breath, my everything
Lord, please keep making me

Make me lonely
So I can be Yours
‘Til I want no one
More than You, Lord
‘Cause in the darkness
I know You will hold me
Make me lonely

‘Til You are my one desire
‘Til You are my one true love
‘Til You are my breath, my everything
Lord, please keep making
I know You’ll keep making
Lord, please keep making me

“Find You On My Knees,” Kari Jobe

Contemporary Christian singer and praise and worship leader Kari Jobe has released Find You On My Knees to Christian Soft AC/Inspo. This song is one of the standouts on Jobe’s sophomore release, Where I Find You, and its chart performance on Inspo despite the song and album’s age bodes well for Jobe’s latest stab at Inspo stardom.

FIND YOU ON MY KNEES Lyrics can run.

Hillsong Live, “Cornerstone”

Australian praise and worship band Hillsong Live has released Cornerstone, the title track off its newest release, which drops across the United States on July 3rd, 2012, on Sparrow Records. Cornerstone is the 21st live release from the legendary praise and worship ministry, who are inspired to continually provide fresh songs of worship for use by the universal church, fueled by a deep passion to see people connect with the Living God in a real and personal way.

Cornerstone‘s verses come from the classic hymn, The Solid Rock (My Hope is Built). The group that sings includes luminaries like Reuben Morgan, Joel Houston, Ben Fielding, and Darlene Zschech, all singing alongside international Hillsong teams from London, Stockholm and Cape Town.

Cornerstone was written by Reuben Morgan as a response to the Norway shooting incident in 2011 that claimed the lives of more than 70 people. It will be released this July at the 2012 Hillsong Conference in Sydney.

CORNERSTONE Lyrics
Hillsong

My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
but wholly trust in Jesus’ name

My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
but wholly trust in Jesus’ name

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong, in the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord, Lord of All

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
My anchor holds within the veil

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong, in the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord, Lord of All
He is Lord, Lord of All

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong, in the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord, Lord of All

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong, in the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord, Lord of All

Then He shall come with trumpets sound
Oh, may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
faultless, stand before the throne

Beckah Shae, “Overflow”

Contemporary Christian singer and songwriter Beckah Shae has released her new single, Overflow, the carrier single off her upcoming worship album, Rest. Dove Award nominee Shae returns to the Christian adult contemporary sound of Here In This Moment for this outing, a pretty piano worship ballad whose simplicity belies the honest passion and beauty of its lyrics.

Coming from Shae’s previous singles, including the absolutely off-the-hook Life, this may be a bit of a shock(lee, see what I did there?), but this peaceful, calming sound – as Shae calls it on her Facebook page – still highlights her God-given voice. There was never any doubt that Shae is a brilliant singer, and the restraint she demonstrates on Overflow only underscores the true focus on the song – God! – and magnifies Him in her worship. That we may “rest” in Christ through her music is not out of the question; that we can enjoy His presence through her music is a blessing. Absolutely gorgeous.

OVERFLOW Lyrics
Beckah Shae

Fill my mind with peace
Fill my heart with truth
Fill my eyes with love
And fill my joy with You

I’m desperate for You
And I’m desperate for You

You’re all I desire
You’re all I need
Overflow in me
You’re all I desire
You’re all I need
Overflow in me

Fill my weak with strength
Fill my full with more
Fill my soul with hope
And fill my faith with Yours

I’m desperate for You
And I’m desperate for You

You’re all I desire
You’re all I need
Overflow in me
You’re all I desire
You’re all I need
Overflow in me

You overwhelm me with Your presence
There’s so much more to this life for You are here
Consume every part of me
For I’m missing nothing
The more I seek You I find that You are here

Casting Crowns, “Jesus Friend of Sinners”

Contemporary Christian supergroup Casting Crowns has released Jesus Friend of Sinners to radio just a few weeks after the release of Just Another Birthday. While I am overjoyed to have this song – one of the best songs on Come to the Well lyrically – I am also a little saddened that we couldn’t see a bigger promotional push behind Just Another Birthday, which, aside from being one of the rare Casting Crowns singles to not feature lead singer Mark Hall, contains such a powerful story and speaks volumes about God’s redemptive and restorative power. Nevertheless, Jesus Friend of Sinners is just as powerful, if not more so, because it is worshipful yet introspective, one of those once-in-a-lifetime worship songs that is also a direct prayer to Jesus. Written by Hall with my favorite Christian songwriter of all time, Matthew West, Jesus Friend of Sinners will be the next Casting Crowns Top 10 that Just Another Birthday wasn’t but should have been.

JESUS FRIEND OF SINNERS Lyrics
Casting Crowns

Jesus, friend of sinners, we have strayed so far away
We cut down people in your name but the sword was never ours to swing
Jesus, friend of sinners, the truth’s become so hard to see
The world is on their way to You but they’re tripping over me
Always looking around but never looking up I’m so double minded
A plank-eyed saint with dirty hands and a heart divided

Oh Jesus, friend of sinners
Open our eyes to the world at the end of our pointing fingers
Let our hearts be led by mercy
Help us reach with open hearts and open doors
Oh Jesus, friend of sinners, break our hearts for what breaks yours

Yeah…

Jesus, friend of sinners, the one who’s writing in the sand
Made the righteous turn away and the stones fall from their hands
Help us to remember we are all the least of these
Let the memory of Your mercy bring Your people to their knees
Nobody knows what we’re for only what we’re against when we judge the wounded
What if we put down our signs crossed over the lines and loved like You did

Oh Jesus, friend of sinners
Open our eyes to world at the end of our pointing fingers
Let our hearts be led by mercy
Help us reach with open hearts and open doors
Oh Jesus, friend of sinners, break our hearts for what breaks yours

You love every lost cause; you reach for the outcast
For the leper and the lame; they’re the reason that You came
Lord I was that lost cause and I was the outcast
But you died for sinners just like me, a grateful leper at Your feet

‘Cause You are good, You are good and Your love endures forever
You are good, You are good and Your love endures forever
You are good, You are good and Your love endures forever
You are good, You are good and Your love endures forever

Oh Jesus, friend of sinners
Open our eyes to world at the end of our pointing fingers
Let our hearts be led by mercy
Help us reach with open hearts and open doors
Oh Jesus, friend of sinners, break our hearts for what breaks Yours

And I was the lost cause and I was the outcast
Yeah…
You died for sinners just like me, a grateful leper at Your feet

MercyMe, “The Hurt and the Healer”

Contemporary Christian supergroup MercyMe is returning with a new single! Titled The Hurt and the Healer, the song is a moving declaration of faith in a God Who is capable of healing even the most painful of wounds, all for His glory, and that we may trust in Him totally. Oftentimes, God’s plan for us isn’t clear, and The Hurt and the Healer just speaks such comfort to those who are wondering why He lets us go through what we are going through.

Side note: The Hurt and the Healer is available for pre-ordering on MercyMe’s website, with a scheduled release date on May 22. The website’s offering a variety of pre-order specials, including one that gets you the CD, an exclusive advance download of The Hurt and the Healer, a The Hurt and the Healer t-shirt, and an exclusive engraved “Hello Somebody” watch (created by a Christian organization that feeds and educates third-world kids). That’s a pretty sweet deal.

THE HURT AND THE HEALER Lyrics
MercyMe

Why?
The question that is never far away
The healing doesn’t come from the explained
Jesus please don’t let this go in vain
You’re all I have
All that remains

So here I am
What’s left of me
Where glory meets my suffering

I’m alive
Even though a part of me has died
You take my heart and breathe it back to life
I’ve fallen into Your arms open wide
When the hurt and the healer collide

Breathe
Sometimes I feel it’s all that I can do
Pain so deep that I can hardly move
Just keep my eyes completely fixed on You
Lord take hold and pull me through

So here I am
What’s left of me
Where glory meets my suffering

I’m alive
Even though a part of me has died
You take my heart and breathe it back to life
I’ve fallen into Your arms open wide
When the hurt and the healer collide

It’s the moment when humanity
Is overcome by majesty
When grace is ushered in for good
And all the scars are understood
When mercy takes its rightful place
And all these questions fade away
When out of the weakness we must bow
And hear You say “It’s over now”

I’m alive
Even though a part of me has died
You take my heart and breathe it back to life
I’ve fallen into Your arms open wide
When the hurt and the healer collide

Jesus come and break my fear
Awake my heart and take my tears
Find Your glory even here
When the hurt and the healer collide
When the hurt and the healer collide

Jesus come and break my fear
Awake my heart and take my tears
Find Your glory even here
