Rend Collective, “Joy of the Lord”

Rend Collective has released the effervescent Joy of the Lord, a truly enjoyable pop/rock romp that combines Irish folk inclinations with Scripture to produce an delightful praise anthem, one of my favorite tracks so far this 2016.

Psalm 28:7 says, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” Rend Collective’s Joy of the Lord brings this verse to bold, ebullient life, with banjos and hurdy-hurdy’s underscoring the outburst of praise, exclaimed in a chorus that invites worshipers to sing and absolutely refuses to let go.

Written by Rend Collective with songwriter/producer Ed Cash, known best for his work with Chris Tomlin, the biggest strength of Joy of the Lord is its passionate declaration of trust in a God Who will see us through our trials and tribulations. Christians going through a valley season will appreciate and delight in its biblical truth and irresistible call to worship.

Kristian Stanfill, “Salvation’s Tide”

Passion’s latest album, Salvation’s Tide is Rising, is a stunning collection of anthemic praise and powerful worship. Carrier single Salvation’s Tide is fully representative of the evergreen themes of prayer and renewal that have come to synonymous with Passion conferences. Performed by Kristian Stanfill and written by him with Matt Maher, Jason Ingram, and Brett Younker, Salvation’s Tide offers up a tidal wave of worship, declaring victory upon victory in the name of Jesus. One of the best Passion singles to date, IMHO.

I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.

SALVATION’S TIDE Lyrics
Kristian Stanfill

There is no limit to Your power
There is no stopping what You plan
You give us faith to move the mountains
And hope to dream again

We see the fires of revival
The darkness giving way to light
The glory of Your grace advancing
Let it burn up the night
Let it burn up the night

Let the walls come down in Jesus’ name
Let the lost be found in Jesus’ name
Let the church arise
To shine Your light to the world
Shine Your light

Your house forever undivided
All Your sons and daughters one
At the cross, we are united
Our hope is in the blood
Our hope is in Your blood

Let the walls come down in Jesus’ name
Let the lost be found in Jesus’ name
Let the church arise
To shine Your light to the world
Shine Your light

Salvation’s tide is rising
As all Your people seek Your face
Your life, a river flowing
To wash our sin and shame away

Salvation’s tide is rising
As all Your people seek Your face
Your life, a river flowing
To wash our sin and shame away

Let the walls come down in Jesus’ name
Let the lost be found in Jesus’ name
Let the church arise
To shine Your light to the world
Shine Your light

Salvation’s tide is rising
As all Your people seek Your face
Your life, a river flowing
To wash our sin and shame away

Victory Worship, “Reign Forever”

Philippine worship team Victory Worship has released another single to Christian AC. Reign Forever features Cathy Go, the vocalist behind the group’s massive debut single, Radical Love. Written by Elle Cabiling, Chino Celeste, AJ Jiao, and Ian Tumaliuan, Reign Forever is a soaring worship anthem with an unforgettable chorus and a powerful bridge. I think it’s a brilliant song.

REIGN FOREVER Lyrics
Victory Worship

In the midst of the battle
I put my trust in You
When darkness overwhelms me
I will look to You

When enemies surround me
and sorrow fills my heart
A gentle voice reminds me
We’ll never be apart

Now I worship
Now I declare

Jesus You’ve won it all
You reign forever
You reign forever
Holy and Glorious
You reign forever
You reign forever

In Your love everlasting
I find my victory
Every fear is defeated
I know You are with me

Now I worship
Now I declare

Jesus You’ve won it all
You reign forever
You reign forever
Holy and Glorious
You reign forever
You reign forever
Jesus You’ve won it all
You reign forever
You reign forever
Holy and Glorious
You reign forever
You reign forever

When I was so lost
You chose to love
Someone like me
So that I could live
You gave Your life
Upon that Cross

When I was so lost
You chose to love
Someone like me
So that I could live
You gave Your life
Upon that Cross

When I was so lost
You chose to love
Someone like me
So that I could live
You gave Your life
Upon that Cross

Jesus You’ve won it all
You reign forever
You reign forever
Holy and Glorious
You reign forever
You reign forever
Jesus You’ve won it all
You reign forever
You reign forever
Holy and Glorious
You reign forever
You reign forever

Danny Gokey, “Mary Did You Know”

Contemporary Christian singer Danny Gokey has released Mary Did You Know as the carrier single of his new Christmas project, Christmas is Here. The eighth season third placer of American Idol has found success as a Contemporary Christian singer, and with Mark Lowry & Buddy Greene’s Mary Did You Know, is set to win more hearts in the Christian genre. His passionate vocals, partnered with brilliant instrumentation from Keith Thomas and that incredible choir in the background, will push this song easily into the Top 10 during Christmas season.

MARY DID YOU KNOW Lyrics
Danny Gokey

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has come to make you new?
This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you.

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will calm the storm with His hand?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little Baby you kissed the face of God?

Mary did you know

The blind will see
The deaf will hear
The dead will live again
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of The Lamb
Oh Mary

Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your Baby Boy is heaven’s perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you’re holding is the Great I Am
The Great I Am, oh
The blind will see
The deaf will hear, and the dead will live again
He’s the Great I Am
He’s moving
He’s healing
Oh, He’s the Great I Am
He shall be called Wonderful Counselor
He’s the Great I Am
There’s healing in His hands
He’s the Great I Am

7eventh Time Down, “Promises”

Christian rock band 7eventh Time Down has released Promises off their latest album, Just Say Jesus. I LOVE THIS SONG. I think it’s absolutely fantastic! While I think that Just Say Jesus was great, and The One I’m Running To was even better, and the chart performance of these two songs is off the hook, I think Promises is a radio-friendly guitar-driven praise party anthem that should be making a household name of 7eventh Time down. This song of dependence on a God Who never fails will speak to pretty much anyone going through a desert season. Enjoy!

PROMISES Lyrics
7eventh Time Down

I got a suitcase full of empty promises
Don’t believe a thing that this world says
It’s kinds like wishin’ on a fallen star
A temporary fix for a broken heart
Everything here just falls apart
Cause nothing compares to the way You are

All I need is You
You’re the hope in this life that I can’t deny
All I need is You
I’ve seen it again and again
I can stand on Your promises

One thing I’ve found in all my weakness
Is that I find my strength in the name of Jesus
Oh you lift me up I feel ten feet tall
Standing with You I could never fall
I’m listening close to the Spirit’s call
My savior, my all

All I need is You
You’re the hope in this life that I can’t deny
All I need is You
I’ve seen it again and again
I can stand on Your promises

Standing, standing, standing on the promises
I’m standing, standing, standing on the promises
I’m standing, standing, standing on the promises
I’m standing, standing, standing on the promises of

God I need you
You’re the hope in this life I can’t deny
All I need is You
I’ve seen it again and again
I can stand on the promises of God

Glory in the highest I will sing
Standing on the promises of Christ my King

Kari Jobe, “I Am Not Alone”

Contemporary Christian singer and songwriter Kari Jobe has released I Am Not Alone as the second single off her latest album, Majestic. After the success of the carrier single off this new release–Forever debuted and peaked at No.5 on Billboard’s Christian Songs chart–one would think that Kari would have a hard time following it up, but I Am Not Alone fits the bill perfectly. Written by Jobe with some of Contemporary praise and worship’s biggest names, including Marty Sampson (Hillsong United), Mia Fieldes, Ben and Austin Davis, Grant Pittman, and Dustin Sauder, I Am Not Alone is an earnest declaration of faith in a God Who is with us, in both good times and bad. Clearly written with a heart for community praise, this track will no doubt do well, and hopefully get Jobe her second straight, well-deserved Top 10 hit.

I AM NOT ALONE Lyrics
Kari Jobe

When I walk through deep waters
I know that You will be with me
When I’m standing in the fire
I will not be overcome
Through the valley of the shadow
I will not fear

I am not alone
I am not alone
You will go before me
You will never leave me

In the midst of deep sorrow
I see Your light is breaking through
The dark of night will not overtake me
I am pressing into You
Lord, You fight my every battle
And I will not fear

You amaze me
Redeem me
You call me as Your own

You’re my strength
You’re my defender
You’re my refuge in the storm
Through these trials
You’ve always been faithful
You bring healing to my soul

Mandisa, “Press On”

Contemporary Christian star Mandisa has released Press On as the third single off her Grammy Award-winning album, Overcomer. Typically, third singles are rare now in the Contemporary Christian genre, owing to higher promotional costs and whatnot, but the folks at Sparrow feel that there is still value in releasing Press On to radio, and I’m so glad they took the risk.

Press On is one of the best tracks on Overcomer, and for good reason. The album’s melody is instantly singable, after all, and the song’s encouraging message will speak to thousands, just like its predecessor, the album’s title track. There is an incredible remix available on the album’s Deluxe version (as well as Mandisa’s follow-up release, Get Up: The Remixes). While follow-up single Back to You was no slouch–a number 12 finish is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of–there were still many great potential singles off Overcomer, and Press On is right there on top. I feel both the original and the remix have solid radio airplay power, and hopefully, Mandisa will be able to score herself yet another top 10.

Phillips, Craig, and Dean, “Jesus, Only Jesus”

Legendary Contemporary Christian vocal group Phillips, Craig, and Dean have returned with Jesus, Only Jesus, the carrier single of its thirteenth album, Above It All. Once again, Randy Phillips, Shawn Craig, and Dan Dean have infused their signature power-pop harmonies into a cherished worship anthem, this time Jesus Only Jesus, most popularly known for the separate versions rendered by its songwriters Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman, who co-wrote this track with Tony Wood, Nathan Nockels, Cristy Nockels, and Kristian Stanfill.

Jesus Only Jesus is one of the most anointed tracks out of the sixsteps family, and PCD takes this track and makes it even more reverent. Y’all know that I love me some harmonies, and PCD is right up there with the best. I am absolutely in love with this song, even when I heard it for the first time when Matt Redman sang it on the Passion album Let the Future Begin, and I think PCD took it to a different and welcome new level. The song has already hit No.1 on Billboard’s Soft AC chart, and has also cracked the Billboard Christian Songs chart–the Hot 100 of Christian music–which is a great indication of the quality of the track and its potential soul-restoring power. Well-done, PCD.

JESUS ONLY JESUS Lyrics
Phillips, Craig, and Dean

Who has the power to raise the dead
Who can save us from our sin
He is our hope, our righteousness
Jesus, only Jesus

Who can make the blind to see
Who holds the keys that set us free
He paid it all to bring us peace
Jesus, only Jesus

Holy King
Almighty Lord
Saints and angels all adore
We join with them and bow before
Jesus, only Jesus

Who can command the highest praise
Who has the name above all names
You stand alone
I stand amazed
Jesus, only Jesus

You will command the highest praise
Yours is the name above all names
You stand alone
I stand amazed
Jesus, only Jesus
