Song Ji Eun, “Make It Love”

Korean pop vocalist Song Ji Eun has released Make It Love (MIL), her first solo non-soundtrack single since 2016’s Bobby Doll and her first release outside of her former record label, TS Entertainment.

Make It Love envisions itself as a summery pop anthem but the song itself does leave a few things to be desired. It chugs along at a decent pace but doesn’t build up particularly well; there are no strong build-ups to take note of and the chorus isn’t particularly memorable. Ji Eun does her best with this, but this would have clearly been an album track in any other solo artist’s album. It is sadly generic in a crowded K-Pop dancefloor. On the bright side, the MV features a lot of beauty shots for those who appreciate Ji Eun’s bright smile. Such a shame–our Ji Eun can do and deserves so much better.
