With Deuteronomy 31:8–“the Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you. He will never leave you or forsake you, so do not be afraid”–serving as the scriptural foundation for this song, Battles is a very special song that can encourage any believer in their valley season. “Just like David stood before Goliath,” Havens says, “with the power of God on his side, we can stand up to anything that comes against us. We hope this song will be a weapon for people’s faith – a reminder of God’s power in the midst of our struggles. Battles may be my favorite The Afters song ever. I absolutely love it! I predict a Top 20 finish, although in my heart, I honestly hope it makes Top 10. I think it should go to No.1. :)
