Contemporary Christian singer Danny Gokey has released Tell Your Heart to Beat Again as the third single off his debut Christian album, Hope in Front of Me. With its message of hope and Gokey’s awe-inspiring vocal delivery, I wouldn’t be surprised if this would become Gokey’s latest Top 10 hit.
This isn’t an original by Danny Gokey, though. Written by Bernie Herms, Matthew West, and Randy Phillips, and performed by Phillips, Craig and Dean from their album Breathe In, Tell Your Heart to Beat Again is every bit as powerful in Gokey’s hands as it was in the original by the legendary Contemporary Christian vocal trio. One interesting thing I’ve noticed is the lyrical change in the second verse, from “Forgiven” to “Beginning.” Not quite sure why Gokey’s version had it different–I rather like the more gospel-centric implications of the original–but I’m sure he had his reasons.
