Hawk Nelson, “Drops in the Ocean”

Legendary Contemporary Christian pop/rock group Hawk Nelson has released Drops in the Ocean as its first single for 2015, the first single for new band members Micah Kuiper (guitarist) and David Niacaris (drummer), and the second single featuring Jonathan Steingard as lead vocalist (following the Top 5 smash Words, which also featured MercyMe’s Bart Millard.

Co-written by Matt Bronleewe, Jon Steingard, and producer du jour Jason Ingram, Drops in the Ocean is instantly likeable and readily accessible. It’s the first single off the band’s new album, Diamonds, which drops March 17 off Fair Trade Services (well-done, HN! Signing with Fair Trade was a brilliant move!). I’m pretty confident about the chances of Drops in the Ocean, and I think it’ll cross over to Christian AC from Christian CHR pretty easily. It’s a great song, and more people should hear it.

DROPS IN THE OCEAN Lyrics
Hawk Nelson

I want you as you are, not as you ought to be
Won’t you lay down your guard and come to me
The shame that grips you now is crippling
It breaks my heart to see you suffering

Cause I am for you
I’m not against you

If you want to know
How far my love can go
Just how deep, just how wide
If you want to see
How much you mean to me
Look at my hands, look at my side
If you could count the times I say you are forgiven
It’s more than the drops in the ocean

Don’t think you need to settle for a substitute
When I’m the only love that changes you

Open your heart
It’s time that we start again

If you want to know
How far my love can go
Just how deep, just how wide
If you want to see
How much you mean to me
Look at my hands, look at my side
If you could count the times I say you are forgiven
It’s more than the drops in the ocean
