Contemporary Christian singer/songwriter and Dove Award 2012 winner for Best New Artist Jamie Grace has released Holding On from her debut record, One Song at a Time. I initially thought that Come to Me was going to be the single – it even had an official video – but apparently, Holding On is the single that debuts on Billboard’s Christian Songs chart, so perhaps there was an increase in airplay that pushed that track onto the charts.
Regardless of whether or not Holding On is a true single, the truth is, it’s a beautiful track. A ballad sung with only the piano to accompany Jamie, Holding On is a bare-bones song about trusting God in the middle of truly desperate circumstances. Radio history has shown this kind of ballad is always powerful and usually does well on Christian AC, so we can expect this track to perform well across Christian AC and perhaps even Christian Soft AC. I predict a Top 20 finish for the latest single from this rising Christian superstar.
