Adam Young, better known as one-man synth-pop act Owl City, has released Shooting Star, the carrier of his new EP, The Midsummer Station. Shooting Star, the EP containing four songs including the title track, debuted on the Billboard 200 a few weeks ago at number 49 on the Billboard 200.
The song is also picking up at Christian CHR, where it is one of the most-added tracks at radio this week. I personally like Shooting Star more than most of Owl City’s previous discography because of its successful effort to become radio-friendly, and it certainly is more radio-friendly than anything Owl City’s released since Fireflies. And that’s saying a lot, because Alligator Sky was criminally ignored at radio, and Galaxies was absolutely ethereal and lovely, and far too indicative of his beliefs to make any sort of dent at Top 40 radio. But Young is unfazed.
“I feel that as an artist you should never really look back or repeat yourself,” he says.
