Contemporary Christian pop-rock band Switchfoot is returning on September 27 with Vice Verses, the follow-up to the Grammy Award-winning Hello Hurricane. The carrier single is the midtempo guitar-driven Restless, now picking up fast at Christian AC; this week, Restless is one of the most-added singles at radio, and given the success of Hello Hurricane and the quality of Restless, I’m convinced Switchfoot will not have a hard time getting back into radio’s good graces.
Restless features some of the most poetic lines this year in Contemporary Christian music. Not since John Mark McMillan penned the stunningly turbulent lines of How He Loves Us have I connected with such creative language. Restless isn’t flower, by all means, but the images that Jon Foreman and the band conjure up in Restless certainly stands head and shoulder above most other songs currently playing on Christian AC. Mark my words, a Top 15 finish, possibly Top 10. Switchfoot’s back, baby; it’s back!
