Needtobreathe, “Slumber”

Contemporary Christian pop-rock band Needtobreathe, who scored two top ten 2009 Christian AC hits in Lay ‘Em Down and Something Beautiful from their 2009 release, The Outsiders, is back with a new single, Slumber. Bear Rinehart, Bo Rinehart, Seth Bolt, and Joe Stillwell – accompanied by Josh Lovelace on the band’s tour with Taylor Swift – have crafted another catchy southern gospel-type song that is decidedly more uptempo than the church organ-fueled shuffle of previous #1 hit Washed by the Water. Slumber is a delightful toe-tapper that should be able to gain the band even more fans in the weeks and months to come. Given Christian radio’s reaction to Slumber – one of the fastest-added, most-played, and most well-received new singles this week in Christian AC – I should expect an easy Top 10 hit for Needtobreathe. Go boys!

SLUMBER Lyrics
Needtobreathe

Days; they force you back under those covers,
lazy mornings; they multiply,
glory’s waiting outside your windows.
Wake on up from your slumber, baby open up your eyes.

Tongues are violent, personal and focused,
tough to be with your steady mind,
arts are stronger then to broken.
Wake on up from your slumber, baby open up your eyes.

All these victims stand in line for,
come step forth from the table just enough to get by,
all the while your invitation.
Wake on up from your slumber, baby open up your eyes.
Wake on up from your slumber, baby open up your eyes.

Take from vandals all you want now,
please don’t trade it in for life,
replaced your feeble with the fable.
Wake on up from your slumber, baby open up your eyes.
Wake on up from your slumber, baby open up your eyes.

All these victims stand in line for,
come step forth from the table just enough to get by,
all the while your invitation.
Wake on up from your slumber, baby open up your eyes.
Wake on up from your slumber, baby open up your eyes.

Sing like we used to,
dance when you want to,
taste for the breakthrough open wide.

All these victims stand in line for,
come step forth from the table just enough to get by,
all the while your invitation.
Wake on up from your slumber, baby open up your eyes.
Wake on up from your slumber, baby open up your eyes.
Wake on up from your slumber, baby open up your eyes.

Come on, sing like we used to,
and dance like you want to.
Come on darlin’ open your eyes.
I wanna sing like we used to.
I wanna dance like we want to.
Come on darlin’ open up your eyes
