I made a huge mistake not featuring Hope is Rising and Come Home by Contemporary Christian ambient rock band Luminate, but I will not make that same error with the buoyant Healing in Your Arms, now rising up the charts at Christian AC. The Tyler, TX band may have been around since 2005, but the 2009 signing to Sparrow Records and the subsequent EMI/CMG distribution may be what truly got Luminate on the map. Healing in Your Arms is one of the most encouraging, musically uplifting tracks I’ve heard out of Texas in recent years. Luminate’s bio says that singer and lyricist Sam Hancock writes anthemic choruses, and Healing in Your Arms is the perfect example of this. I particularly love the synth strings at the start of the song – I’m a sucker for strings – and the chorus is instantly singable and very memorable. Mark my words, y’all should get Healing in Your Arms; this is the next Top 20 hit waiting to happen. This week, Healing in Your Arms moves up 53-46 on Christian AC, and I’m sure it will continue to rise.
HEALING IN YOUR ARMS Lyrics
Luminate
If it’s been one time, it’s been a million
Try to be perfect, but it’s tearing me apart
The fear of failing is so familiar
But you’re breaking down the fences in my heart
I’ll slow down breathing in,
breathing out
I’m waking up, I’m breaking out
I’m leaving behind the fear and doubt
I’m letting go, I’ll trust and fall
Cause I know there’s healing in your arms
So I’ve been striving, running in circles
Through the fight, I’ve forgotten who I am
God I am longing to break the cycle
To lose myself, so I can start again
Slow down, breathing in breathing out
I’m waking up, I’m breaking out
I’m leaving behind the fear and doubt
I’m letting go, I’ll trust and fall
Cause I know there’s healing in your arms
It’s time to give it away, gotta give it away
(Give it away) Let your love take over
Love is way you came, you gave it all away
(Give it away) Now love is taking me over
I’m waking up, I’m breaking out
I’m leaving behind the fear and doubt
I’m letting go, I’ll trust and fall
Cause I know there’s healing in your arms
Oh, yes I know there’s healing in your arms
There’s healing, healing in your arms
