Kirk Franklin, “I Am”

Gospel superstar Kirk Franklin is releasing his new CD, Hello Fear, on March 22 across the world. The follow-up to his critically acclaimed opus, , Hello Fear promises to combine various musical genres and styles in Franklin’s own inimitable way to produce what will probably be another stellar masterpiece in his ever-growing discography. Aside from featuring some of the greatest names in gospel, including Marvin Sapp, John P. Kee, and Marvin Winans, Franklin also tapped industry heavyweights like Anaysha Figueroa, Isaac Carree, Nikki Ross, Eric Moore, and Charmaine Swimpson to prominently guest on the songs of Hello Fear, and the result is a stunning array of complexity and vocal prowess.

Hello Fear has birthed two singles that are currently being serviced to gospel and urban radio: I Smile and I Am. Of the two, I Smile promises to be the more radio friendly, but I Am is the track that is resonating with me and thus is the one I am featuring on GannsDeen.com first. While I Smile is, in Franklin’s words, a “fun, urban upbeat… declarative statement that I’m not going to live my life based on how I feel,” but rather how “I will live my life based on God’s Word,” I Am is “about exchanging all of my weaknesses for God’s strength… about declaring what God says about me and not my situation. As we daily transform to God’s image, we no longer identify with who we were, but who we are becoming.”
