Christian rock band Remedy Drive scored a #1 hit in 2009 with All Along, scored off their major label debut Daylight is Coming (Word Records). Ian Eskelin (Avalon, Francesca Battistelli) produced the CD, and it shows; the quality of the CD is so good that four singles have been released to radio, a rare feat for most Contemporary Christian albums. Apart from All Along, Daylight and Heartbeat also saw generous airplay. New single Speak to Me stands to mimic All Along‘s success. David Zach’s voice has never sounded stronger, and the theme of calling on God to communicate with the singer has always proven popular with Contemporary Christian audiences. (Witness to wit: MercyMe’s Word of God Speak, although in fairness, since when has MercyMe tanked?) I’m excited for Speak to Me; even as Remedy Drive tours with the Rock and Worship Roadshow, with artists such as David Crowder Band, MercyMe, Family Force 5, Fee, and Sidewalk Prophets, more CCM radio stations are picking up the song. Let’s see what happens.
SPEAK TO ME Lyrics
Remedy Drive
I’ve been listening in all the wrong places
Am I alone?
Am I missing every word You’re saying
I don’t know the sound of Your voice anymore
Anymore, anymore
Speak to me, please speak to me
I’m in between and I can’t hear You
Whisper, shout it
Give me something
I need it now, need Your voice, need a sound
Speak to me
Is it ’cause of all the times I failed You
Am I too far
Did you wonder how long I’d wait for You
When I can’t hear the sound of Your voice anymore
Anymore, anymore
Speak to me, please speak to me
I’m in between and I can’t hear You
Whisper, shout it
Give me something
I need it now, need Your voice, need a sound
Speak to me
Tell me something
Tell me anything
I am waiting for You
Won’t You speak to me
