In my day, PCD meant Phillips, Craig and Dean, not the Pussycat Dolls. Unlike the group with whom they share unfortunate initials, Randy Phillips, Shawn Craig and Dan Dean have a storied career in Christian music that spans almost twenty years, starting with the group’s self-titled debut album in 1992. Their latest CD, 2009’s Fearless, debuted at #1 on the Contemporary Christian chart – their first-ever #1, strangely enough – and spawned the Billboard Hot Christian Songs #1 single Revelation Song. Fearless went on to win the Dove Award for Inspirational Album of the Year, while Revelation Song took home the Worship Song of the Year award for its writer, Kari Jobe.
Fearless is also home to the second single of PCD, Great Are You Lord. Just like its predecessor, Great Are You Lord boasts of a powerful, anthemic chorus, easily singable verse melodies, and the group’s trademark three-layer harmonies. I like it almost as much as Revelation Song, and I’m sure this track will find its way into Soft AC/Inspo playlists across the United States.
