In 2008, I wrote a song titled Set Apart for Uncommon, a message series of Victory Fort Bonifacio, the church in the Philippines for which I work. When it was sung in church, it was transformed into a praise anthem instead of the mid-tempo pseudo-ballad I’d imagined it to be. (Hey, apparently, arrangers can do whatever they want with a song. Thanks, Archie. lol) Almost two years since, I realize the original demo of Set Apart doesn’t sound that dated, praise God. A few months afterward, I played around with GarageBand and made a remix of the track. As a part-time Christian Filipino songwriter, I like producing/writing tracks once a week. (That’d be 52 songs a year if we are on track.)
When I wrote Set Apart, I had 1 Peter 3:15 in mind, which says But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.)
Allow me to share with you my original track, Set Apart, as well as its remix.

You knew me by name
Before the world began
I will never be the same
Forever Yours, I am
Set apart for Your glory
Set apart to sing You praise
Set apart to tell the story
Of how one day I’ll see Your face
I’m set apart by Your grace
I’m set apart by Your mercy
Was separated then united by the power of the cross
I’m set apart by Your love
I have life everlasting
You have given me a brand new start
And Lord You’ve set me apart
Holy, holy, holy are You, Lord
Holy, holy, holy are You, Lord
Holy, holy, holy are You, Lord
Holy, holy, holy are You, Lord
Set apart for Your glory
Set apart to sing You praise
Set apart to tell the story
Of how one day I’ll see Your face
I’m set apart by Your grace
I’m set apart by Your mercy
Was separated then united by the power of the cross
I’m set apart by Your love
I have life everlasting
You have given me a brand new start
And Lord You’ve set me apart
You’ve set me apart
You’ve set me apart
You’ve set me apart
