The Backstreet Boys are coming back to Manila. This may not mean much to the average Pinoy – especially in this economy – but these are the Backstreet Boys. Back in the 90s, BSB – as many fans called them – could do no wrong. Every generation has its boy band – the Jackson 5, New Kids on the Block, Menudo LOLZ etc. – and for me and countless others, well, the two boy bands of choice in the 90s were Backstreet Boys and N’ SYNC.
I missed them the last time they were here, and quite frankly, I’m not sure I want to miss them this time around. (I curse the day I said “No!” to Boyz II Men the first time. Then the second time. Then the third time. Please, Boyz II Men, come back!) I mean, most people think they’re pretty much washed up by now, but still… the memories their music brings back!
Also, here’s a funny story about me: I dislike karaoke bars as much as the next guy, but when invited, I always sing As Long As You Love Me. If there’s a follow-up request, I’ll then do I Want It That Way. Heeheehee. This is the group that released Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely, Everybody (Backstreet’s Back), Quit Playing Games With My Heart, and the eternal misstep Get Down (You’re The One For Me). If I had to attend a concert full of guilty pleasures, wouldn’t this be one of the more ideal ones to watch?
Natatawa ako sa sarili ko. How can I say “No!”?
