Monday CCM Roundup – Mandisa, Chris Rice, and more!

Will Needtobreathe notch a second week on this week’s Billboard’s Christian singles charts? Will my current #1 song, Chris Sligh’s Empty Me, finally rise above #16? Access the usual Billboard Christian chart roundup after the jump.

Billboard Hot Christian Songs Top 10 (as of May 24, 2008)
1. Washed by the Water (1) Need to Breathe
2. Let It Fade (2) Jeremy Camp
3. You Are Everything (3) Matthew West
4. Every Man (4) Casting Crowns
5. Love Is Here (5) Tenth Avenue North
6. All Because of Jesus (7) Fee
7. Call My Name (8) Third Day
8. Cinderella (6) Steven Curtis Chapman
9. God With Us (9) MercyMe
10. Find You Waiting (10) DecembeRadio

Oi, what a change. Steven Curtis Chapman tumbles from 6-8 this week, sending Fee and Third Day up a notch each. Other than that, all other seven songs on the chart stay at the exact same positions. Meanwhile, Chris Sligh continues to inch his way slowly towards the top 10, as Empty Me rises up a notch to a new peak at #15. Yay, Chris!

Over at Christian AC, here’s the situation:
1. Let It Fade (1) Jeremy Camp
2. All Because of Jesus (3) Fee
3. You Are Everything (2) Matthew West
4. Cinderella (4) Steven Curtis Chapman
5. Every Man (5) Casting Crowns
6. Washed by the Water (7) Needtobreathe
7. Song of Hope (6) Robbie Seay Band
8. Love is Here (8) Tenth Avenue North
9. Your Grace is Enough (10) Matt Maher
10. God With Us (9) MercyMe

It’s a day of flipflops, as Matthew West and Fee trade positions, as do the Robbie Seay Band and Needtobreathe, as well as Matt Maher and MercyMe.

Here are three new songs on CCM radio I’d recommend for you to give a chance:

1) Voice of a Savior by Mandisa. Written by Matthew West, this song debuts at #17 on the Inspo charts on RadioandRecords.com this week. It’s a good candidate for Top 10, although I don’t see it going #1, given that it’s now the third single of Mandisa’s stunning debut, True Beauty.

2) Tell Me the Story Again by Chris Rice. He’s back! I love this song; it’s quiet and introspective, and a good song to sing along to.

3) Surrounded by Mark Roach. There’s no doubt in my mind that this man is driven by the Spirit! Surrounded is rising up the Inspo charts as well, so look to this becoming a great crossover hit.

I bought my copy of Chris Sligh’s Running Back to You yesterday off MusiChristian.com. It’s onyl US$5! Won’t you support Chris Sligh too?
