Brandon Heath, “Jesus in Disguise”

Brandon Heath, “Jesus in Disguise”

It’s been only a little less than two years since the release of his 2011 award-winning release, Leaving Eden, but Contemporary Christian singer/songwriter and Dove Award winner Brandon Heath isn’t one to rest on his laurels. The chart-topping artist – Give Me Your Eyes was number one on Billboard’s Christian Songs chart for 19 weeks in 2008! – has released Jesus in Disguise, the carrier single of his new album, Blue Mountain.

It isn’t easy topping a record like Give Me Your Eyes or his previous number one hit, I’m Not Who I Was (number one for six weeks in 2007), but Jesus in Disguise, a track Heath co-wrote with Ross Copperman and Lee Thomas Miller, gets it right. Easily memorable melodies and straightforward singalong chorus, written in the trademark Heath manner makes Jesus in Disguise a solid contender for Top 10, possibly number one, despite the deluge of superstar comebacks, including work from tobyMac, Matthew West, Mark Schultz, Chris August, and Tenth Avenue North.

JESUS IN DISGUISE Lyrics
Brandon Heath

Ever get something in your head
It’s nothing you’ve heard, or something you’ve read
Ever had a cut, but you never saw a blade
Brought to your knees, but you never prayed

Jesus in disguise
Jehovah passing by
The burden of a tear
Hanging in your eye
Jesus in disguise
A scar across the sky
You were looking for a king
You would never recognize
Jesus in disguise

Ever feel like you’ve been somewhere before
You hold the key, you know which door
Speak the word your lips have never known
Because your heart told you so

Jesus in disguise
Jehovah passing by
The burden of a tear
Hanging in your eye
Jesus in disguise
A scar across the sky
You were looking for a king
You would never recognize
Jesus in disguise

So open my eyes, wide as I can
Blind as I am, blind as I am
So open my eyes as wide as I can
Blind as I am, blind as I am

Jesus in disguise
Jehovah passing by
The burden of a tear
Hanging in your eye
Jesus in disguise
A scar across the sky
You were looking for a king
You would never recognize
Jesus in disguise
Jesus in disguise
Jesus in disguise
