Mark Schultz, “All Things Possible”

Contemporary Christian singer/songwriter Mark Schultz has released All Things Possible, the carrier single off his new album of the same title, set to drop across the United States in CD and digital formats on Fairtrade Services on September 4, 2012.

Schultz’s Stories and Songs album from 2003 is one of my favorite Contemporary Christian albums of all time. Virtually every track on that album was stellar, especially the absolutely awesome Letters From War, the inspiring You Are a Child of Mine, the poignant Do You Even Know Me Anymore, and the anthemic Just to Know You.

Schultz has since released three studio albums (Broken and Beautiful in 2006, Come Alive in 2009, and Renaissance, an instrumental album, in 2011), along with the live Mark Schultz Live: A Night of Stories & Songs in 2005, the expanded version of Broken & Beautiful in 2007, and the greatest hits collection in 2011. I couldn’t get into those albums, though, and I have to admit I felt that Schultz made the album he was supposed to make with the brilliant collection, Stories and Songs.

However, All Things Possible leads me to believe that I may have been mistaken. Written by Schultz with producer Seth Mosley and Tony Wood, All Things Possible was inspired by Schultz’s partnership with nonprofit organization The James Fund; the singer raised over a quarter of a million dollars for the organization benefiting widows and orphans by biking across the nation.

All Things Possible is my favorite Schultz carrier single. Musically, it’s classic Schultz: readily singable, anthemic chorus that showcases his magnificent baritone, powerful drums, excellent guitar, keyboard and bass work, topnotch. What I particularly like, however, is the bridge, where Schultz sings:

My God is strong and mighty
My God is faithful
My hope is in the Lord
For He is able

I love  raw simplicity of the bridge’s lyrics, yes, but coupled with the powerful melody (and that incredible female vocal at the end of the bridge), it just takes my breath away. I truly hope that All Things Possible will become Schultz’s latest Top 10 hit, and that more people will hear this new and noteworthy Christian radio single.

ALL THINGS POSSIBLE Lyrics
Mark Schultz

I will call on Your name
For there’s always a way
When You lead me
And when life knocks me down
I am not counted out
For You’re with me
And You’re with me

Chorus:
Even when it feels like the light is fading
And I’ve lost my way
Still I’m holding on to the One who’s making
All things possible

Even when it feels like my heart is breaking
Hold on, there is strength
Knowing I belong to the One who’s making
All things possible

I know mountains can move
I’ve seen what You can do
In my weakness
So my heart will believe
If I wait I will see
My God doing, what only He can do

Bridge:
My God is strong and mighty
My God is faithful
My hope is in the Lord
For He is able
