Debuting Contemporary Christian singer-songwriter Dara MacLean is set to go places with the emerging success of her debut single, Suitcases (Fervent Records-Word). Currently positioned at #26 on MediaBase and debuting on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart at #41, Suitcases stands to become an easy Top 25 hit for Dara; I’d predict a finish in the Top 15; it is currently one of the most added songs on Christian radio, and now that the single has been released digitally on iTunes, I predict even better things up ahead of the Texan songstress. Suitcases is lifted off MacLean’s debut album, You Got My Attention, set to drop across the USA in digital and CD formats July 12.
MacLean, who co-wrote Suitcases with one of my favorite CCM producers Ian Eskelin, says Suitcases is “a picture of God’s complete restorative love and how through Christ, we have an opportunity to live free.” Eskelin produced You Got My Attention in its entirety, and with shades of Francesca Battistelli and Natalie Grant in her voice, I’m pretty sure MacLean will have plenty of suitcases to pack as she pursues what is undoubtedly a bright future ahead of her.
