Shonlock, “Something in Your Eyes”

Contemporary Christian urban-hiphop artist Shonlock’s Something in Your Eyes is celebrating a third week atop Radio & Records Christian CHR chart, and with good reason. Something in Your Eyes is irresistible! A hypnotic bass line, terrific synth sounds, and an unforgettable melody make Something in Your Eyes one of the stronger urban Christian singles I’ve heard in recent months. If you have friends who like the music that folks like Bruno Mars or Enrique Iglesias are currently putting out, they will enjoy Something in Your Eyes by Shonlock.

Lifted off Shonlock’s debut EP Where Never Begins (Arrow Records), Something in Your Eyes is the culmination of many years of hard work and perseverance on the part of the Illinois hiphop artist. He’s worked with big names like Aaliyah, Arrested Development, Kierra “Kiki” Sheard, Nicole C. Mullen, The Katinas, The Grits, and Trinitee 5:7 as a dancer, choreographer and lyricist; today, his unique blends of soul, pop, and urban rock makes Deshon Bullock – Shonlock is his professional moniker – one of the more exciting Christian artists to play on radio today.

I first heard of him when I learned that he co-wrote Love Somebody, one of my favorite tracks off Mandisa’s debut CD, True Beauty, and now his work is coming full circle. Show a brotha some love – I can’t pull that off, can I? – and buy Something in Your Eyes off iTunes today. It will be one of your favorite purchases this February, I promise.

SOMETHING IN YOUR EYES Lyrics
Shonlock

There’s not a man who could number the sands of the ocean
Control the breeze
Send a ripple through the sea for motion

And it feels just like you’re showing me a love song
And it feels just like you’re telling to hold on

I see something in Your eyes tonight
And it glows
Letting me know
I’m never alone
I see something in Your eyes
What a show
What a show
Never let go
I’ll never let go

Mended the pieces to my heart when my heart was broken
Put me together again
The doors of grace are open

When I’m feeling like the world is on my shoulders
When I’m feeling like you just cannot go on

I see something in Your eyes tonight
And it glows
Letting me know
I’m never alone
I see something in Your eyes
What a show
What a show
Never let go
I’ll never let go

Sing it with me now
Come on if you’re ready to go
Let’s blow the stratosphere
Sing it with me now
Come on if you’re ready to go

When I look into Your eyes
I feel so alive
When I look into the sky
I feel so alive
When I look into Your eyes
I feel so alive
When I look into the sky
I feel so alive
