Gospel singer Tina Campbell, best known as one half of gospel duo Mary Mary, has released “Too Hard Not To.” I know that the track was released more than a few months ago, but I literally just got to listen to it now, and it is breathtaking.
What makes “Too Hard Not To” absolutely gorgeous is the combination of the subject matter and Campbell’s beautiful voice. Tina often has had to live in the shadow of the commercial and critical success of her sister, Erica, who has scored several Top 10 hits on the gospel charts, but with the release of “It’s Still Personal,” her new album, we are getting a good like at where Tina is coming from, and she is certainly a force to reckon with.
“Too Hard Not To” benefits from beautiful production and Tina’s stellar voice, true, but at the end of the day, it’s the subject matter that brings this song to the fore. We need more forgiveness in the world, and it’s all about mindset and attitude when it comes to the kind of forgiveness that changes lives. So when Tina sings, “Some say it’s too hard to forgive, I say it’s too hard not to,” you really believe it and want to. Stunning.
