Franklin McKay, “Invincible”

Canadian Christian singer Franklin McKay has scored a Billboard Christian Airplay hit with his new single, Invincible. With its catchy, radio-friendly chorus and its airtight production, I’m thinking this could be a good addition to most radio airplay lists (including ours at Saved Radio.

Truth be told, I’m a little confused by the lyrics. Without Christ mentioned in the lyrics–and the odd “let your higher power guide you and your faith” line in the first verse, it can otherwise be read as a self-empowerment anthem. The only part that lends to a Christian focus could be the bridge, where McKay sings, “Like the parting of the seas, and every shooting star I see,” which is a reference to God’s parting of the seas in Exodus. Other than that, it’s an encouraging song that could find airplay on any secular program.

Still, on the strength of its melody and production, I like it a lot, and I hope that many Christian radio stations across the world open up to this potential hit.

INVINCIBLE Lyrics
Franklin McKay

You know you’re not alone
I’ll be with you everyday
Let a higher power guide you and your faith

Hold your head high
I will break through
We’ll live to fight another day

We’re holding on to face tomorrow
We’re not afraid to take the long road
And we’ll show the world that we’re invincible
Invincible
We’re holding on to face tomorrow
We’re not afraid to take the long road
And we’ll show the world that we’re invincible
Invincible

There’ll be times when you will feel lost and out of place
When you’re standing at the crossroads and don’t know your way

Hold your head high
I will break through
And live to fight another day

We’re holding on to face tomorrow
We’re not afraid to take the long road
And we’ll show the world that we’re invincible
Invincible
We’re holding on to face tomorrow
We’re not afraid to take the long road
And we’ll show the world that we’re invincible
Invincible

Like the parting of the seas
And every shooting star I see are endless signs
It’s all divine
You’re all I need to make me invincible

We’re holding on to face tomorrow
We’re not afraid to take the long road
And we’ll show the world that we’re invincible
Invincible
We’re holding on to face tomorrow
We’re not afraid to take the long road
And we’ll show the world that we’re invincible
Invincible
