I am fully convinced that Contemporary Christian singer/songwriter Chris August writes some of the catchiest choruses of this generation of worshipers. He did it with Starry Night and 7×70 off his debut Christian release, he did it with Center of It and Unashamed of You off The Upside of Down, and with The Maker, the new single off his Spring 2015 album, the 2011 Dove Award winner for New Artist of the Year has done it again.
Set against the majestic backdrop of the Olympic National Park in Washington State, The Maker‘s official music video showcases absolutely incredible scenery, including stunning waterfalls, breathtaking mountaintops, and lush forests (not including August’s beard). The star of the video, of course, is the worship that August extends the Creator, especially in that irresistible chorus with its power-packed hook, I love the Maker, and the Maker loves me. Co-songwriter Ed Cash always knows how to write a killer hook–his work with Chris Tomlin speaks for itself–but with The Maker, it’s just absolutely lovely. I love this track.
THE MAKER Lyrics
Chris August
I see You in the sunrise
I see You in the rain
I see You in the laughter
I feel You through the pain
Everything that You have made is beautiful
Oh, my God, I can’t believe my eyes
But in all of this to think that You would think of me
Makes my heart come alive
Your love is like a mighty fire deep inside my bones
I feel like I could climb a thousand mountains all at once
And I never have to wonder if somebody cares for me
I love the Maker
And the Maker loves me
I see You, You are creation
I see the grandness of Your majesty
The universe is singing all Your glory
I can’t believe You live inside of me
Everything that You have made is beautiful
Oh, my God, I can’t believe my eyes
But in all of this to think that You would think of me
Makes my heart come alive
Your love is like a mighty fire deep inside my bones
I feel like I could climb a thousand mountains all at once
And I never have to wonder if somebody cares for me
I love the Maker
And the Maker loves me
More than just some words upon a page
You’ve shown me in a million ways
But there is one that stands above them all
Hands of creation on a cross
Your love is like a mighty fire deep inside my bones
I feel like I could climb a thousand mountains all at once
And I never have to wonder if somebody cares for me
I love the Maker
And the Maker loves me
