Contemporary Christian singer/songwriter Francesca Battistelli will release Write Your Story, her new digital single, to Christian AC starting January 3, 2014. As early as now, though, two radio stations have apparently begun streaming Write Your Story already (according to Radio & Records).
Now, I was excited about Strangely Dim, Frannie’s last digital single, which, as it turned out, was featured on the deluxe edition of her last release, Hundred More Years. Write Your Story will probably, most likely, be the carrier of a new album.
I’m always excited whenever Frannie Battistelli releases a new single, and I was particularly excited by Strangely Dim, because I felt it showcased a lot of depth and growth as a songwriter for her, especially given that the carrier of Hundred More Years, a ukelele-driven pop ditty titled This is the Stuff, was a delightful radio single but relatively light, whereas Strangely Dim was musically and lyrically her finest carrier single to date. (Radio agreed with me, and sent the song into the Top 10.)
With the release of Write Your Story, I feel Francesca Battistelli has surpassed Strangely Dim, and I think it is leaps and bounds superior to any carrier single she has ever released. Co-written by Ben Glover, who has been partially responsible for some of CCM’s latest radio jams, including Mandisa’s 10-week chart-topper Overcomer, Write Your Story is instantly likeable. It’s singable and anthemic, it’s got a killer hook, and it turns the focus back to God, asking Him to “write (His) story on (our) heart.” Of course, Frannie sounds brilliant as always, and I’m so excited for Write Your Story to be her latest chart-topper. Will it be a number one hit? I’m not sure – Christian AC has been unpredictable lately – but I think it’s a safe bet that Write Your Story will be her latest and one of her most well-deserved Top 10 hits. Congratulations, Frannie, it’s an amazing song.
UPDATE: Write Your Story is #1 (as of April 28)! Congratulations, Frannie!
WRITE YOUR STORY Lyrics
Francesca Battistelli
They say
You’re the King of everything
The One who taught the wind to sing
The Source of the rhythm my heart keeps beating
They say
You can give the blind their sight
And You can bring the dead to life
You can be the hope my soul’s been seekin’
I wanna tell You now that I believe it
I wanna tell You now that I believe it
I do, that You can make me new, oh
I’m an empty page
I’m an open book
Write Your story on my heart
Come on and make Your mark
Author of my hope
Maker of the stars
Let me be Your work of art
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
Write Your story, write Your story
Come on and write Your story, write Your story
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
My Life
I know it’s never really been mine
So do with it whatever You like
I don’t know what Your plan is
But I know it’s good, yeah
I wanna tell You now that I believe in
I wanna tell You now that I believe in
In You, so do what You do, oh
I’m an empty page
I’m an open book
Write Your story on my heart
Come on and make Your mark
Author of my hope
Maker of the stars
Let me be Your work of art
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
Write Your story, write Your story
Come on and write Your story, write Your story
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
I want my history
To be Your legacy
Go ahead and show this world
What You’ve done in me
And when the music fades
I want my life to say
I let You write your story, write Your story
Write Your story, write Your story
I’m an empty page
I’m an open book
Write Your story on my heart
Come on and make Your mark
Author of my hope
Maker of the stars
Let me be Your work of art
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
Write Your story, write Your story
Come on and write Your story, write Your story
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
