Contemporary Christian star Steven Curtis Chapman has released Joy, his latest Christmas CD, to the masses, with Christmas Time Again, a festive original, as the first radio single.
True to form, Chapman delivers a clever song with Christmas Time Again. Employing a variety of Christmas memes, including lyrics from classic Christmas songs, as well as memories of Christmas in America (the snow, the pumpkin pie, the mistletoe, etc.), Chapman effortlessly creates a track that should speak easily to anyone seeking to relive fond memories of the season. Admirably, after running people through the many memories, he returns us to the reason for the season, and reminds us that it’s all about the birth of a Savior, that the Lord, indeed, has come.
As I said earlier, the song is clever. It’s chock full of the right ingredients to make a holiday hit, and clearly, it will be one. Already the Greatest Gainer on Billboard’s Christian Songs chart with a week to go before Christmas, this could very well become Chapman’s latest Top 10 hit. Deservedly so.
