Contemporary Christian singer Mandisa has released Somebody’s Angel as the carrier single of her repackaged Christmas CD, It’s Christmas (Christmas Angel Edition). Written by Ben Glover and scheduled for significant airplay as the theme song of Somebody’s Angel, a made-for-television Christmas movie set to air on Gospel Music Channel this December. This midtempo ballad is mostly about how Christians can be salt and light to people in need of God’s love and touch this Christmas, and is all set to follow in the footsteps of The Heart of Christmas and One Last Christmas, Matthew West’s Christmas tracks from last year and the year before that, which received significant exposure from the TV movies.
We also know there’s going to be an official Somebody’s Angel video, which makes me happy because Mandisa hasn’t had many “official videos” with significant production value. Other than “He Is With You” from “Freedom,” all we got was “Stronger,” whose “Live in the Studio” video is great but ultimately a bit of a cop-out, considering Fandisas want videos for every release. LOL “Good Morning” should’ve had a video, as well as “Waiting for Tomorrow.” But ranting aside, I’m looking forward to watching the video of Somebody’s Angel, because based on the image tweeted by Mandisa on location, it’s going to be awesome. She’s so pretty!
All said, I hope Somebody’s Angel will perform well. She’s had two Top 10 hits from What If We Were Real (Good Morning inexplicably fell short), so we wait in joyful anticipation of another Top 10 hit from one of Contemporary Christian music’s brightest female stars.
