Contemporary Christian alt-rock band Abandon Kansas has released a new digital single, Turn It to Gold, off tobyMac’s Gotee Records.
Produced by Dustin Burnett, who’s worked with artists like Newsboys, and mixed by J.R. McNeely, who’s done work with Relient K and House of Heroes, Turn It to Gold takes inspiration from the recently concluded 2012 Olympic Games.
“In the spirit of the Olympics,” singer Jeremy Spring says, “we realized that life brings so many moments when our dreams are put to the test, when all of our passion and hard work are put on the line, and we find out if we are worth something. Much like the long-lasting value of even the smallest piece of gold, I think everyone’s life can be a legacy.”
The inspirational quality of Turn It to Gold comes full circle with the sing-along “Whoa-oh-oh”s and the hard-rocking nature of the single, which is everything we’ve come to expect from Abandon Kansas, whose previous release, Ad Astra per Aspera, was released only last year to critical and commercial acclaim. I strongly recommend it.
TURN IT TO GOLD Lyrics
Abandon Kansas
When the lights go
The lights go down
It’s electric in this place
Let’s go
Let’s go now
To take back what’s at stake
We are the underdogs or so we have been told
We’re not going home ’til You
Turn it to gold
Take the darkest part of me
Turn it to gold
Color in the heart of me
Shines brighter
Taking me higher
Illuminate my soul
Turn it to gold
Turn it to go oh oh oh oh old
Turn it to gold
Let go, don’t get lost in the replay of past mistakes
WE’re not stuck here
Out of luck here
We can break out of the gray
We’re down to the wire
Our faith is never cold
You start a fire
Turn it to gold
Take the darkest part of me
Turn it to gold
Color in the heart of me
Shines brighter
Taking me higher
Illuminate my soul
Turn it to gold
Turn it to go oh oh oh oh old
Turn it to gold
Lights go down
Lights go down
It’s electric
Can you feel it?
Lights go down
Lights go down
It’s electric
Can you feel it?
Oh oh oh
T-T-T-Turn it to gold
Take the darkest part of me
Turn it to gold
Yeah, color in the heart of me
Shines brighter
Taking me higher
Illuminate my soul
Turn it to gold
Turn it to go oh oh oh oh old
Turn it to gold
