Contemporary Christian singer/songwriter Dara MacLean has released Yours Forever as the third single off her Fervent Record debut You Got My Attention. After the Top 20 performances of Suitcases (number 18) and Free (number 16), Yours Forever debuts at number 29 on the Billboard Christian Songs chart, her highest chart entry to date.
There’s a very good chance that Yours Forever will perform better than MacLean’s previous two singles for three reasons. First, melodically, Yours Forever is some pretty catchy pop. Second, the acoustic guitar treatment is lovely, and should make for some pretty amazing remakes for all the Christian musicians on YouTube. Thirdly, the lyrics are beautiful. Finally, while speaking about and to God, there is a certain ambiguity about the song that may allow Yours Forever to work as well as a romantic song, which makes it ideal wedding fodder, if you look at it in a secular way. Altogether a great song and perhaps MacLean’s biggest potential hit to date.
