Fresh from its Top 15 hit Hold Me Together, Contemporary Christian foursome Royal Tailor releases Make A Move, and honestly, if Royal Tailor doesn’t get at least a nomination for Best New Artist at the next Dove Awards, I think there is something seriously wrong with the nomination process. There is something about Royal Tailor that is, in my opinion, instantly likeable. It’s not just the irresistibly pure vocals of Tauren Wells, or the unforgettable pop hooks that the band crafts. I think it’s the passion of the band; the boys like what they’re doing and they’re enjoying themselves, and they bring the positive, saving message of Christianity to many people who otherwise would be closed to Christian music.
Having said that, Make A Move is clearly a strategic release, and a bold one. Good jobs, Provident Records. By releasing a funky toe-tapper like Make a Move, which I think incorporates shades of Maroon5 and DavidCrowder*Band into the influence, we learn that Royal Tailor isn’t just some acoustic one-hit wonder. I wouldn’t be surprised if Make a Move goes beyond the peak chart position achieved by its predecessor. Mark my words, kids: Royal Tailor, Dove Awards. Come on now.
MAKE A MOVE Lyrics
Royal Tailor
Mr. Good Intentions, so much I wanna do
My mouth just keeps on running
But I never follow through
I heard that true religion is love with hands and feet
I wanna find my own way
To reach a world in need
I’ve been captured by the unimportant
Locked in and now it’s time to break free
There’s more to life
Open my eyes
Someone is needing you
So I gotta make a move
What good are words
When this world hurts
Real faith will come through
When I make a move
We don’t need permission to go outside of these doors
And dream some crazy dream
No one else has dreamed before
To show love and compassion
Whatever way it may be
To put faith into action
Do more than just believe
We are hope to those who have been broken
We were made to make a difference
There’s more to life
Open my eyes
Someone is needing you
So I gotta make a move
What good are words
When this world hurts
Real faith will come through
When I make a move
I’ve been captured by the unimportant
Locked in and now it’s time to break free
Now it’s time to break free
There’s more to life
Open my eyes
Someone is needing you
So I gotta make a move
What good are words
When this world hurts
Real faith will come through
When I make a move
