Contemporary Christian rock band Third Day has released a fourth single from its 2010 album, Move. Thus far, this studio CD hasn’t yielded any #1 hits – a strange thing for Third Day – but a #4 single in Children of God is nothing to sneeze at. With the hiccup that was Make Your Move, which faltered at #43 on the big chart and at #12 on Christian CHR, the band returns to form with Trust in Jesus, one of the standout tracks from Move and certainly at par with some of their better work. Personally, I think Trust in Jesus would have made a better second single – the whole “we are children of God” theme can’t be topped, in my opinion, after Avalon’s stunning Orphans of God – but hey, I’m not Essential Records and I’m not exactly Third Day’s target market.
Regardless, Trust in Jesus is full of vertical praise, exalting Jesus as “strong Defender,” among other great Names for the Son of God, which sounds fantastic coming from a burly fellow like Mac Powell, who has never sounded more passionate.
