Top Christian Songs (Billboard) – May 21 2011

Casting Crowns’ Glorious Day (Living You Loved Me) remains atop the Billboard Christian Songs chart for a fifth week, but the track loses its bullet; Tenth Avenue North’s You Are More slips to #3 while Mandisa’s Stronger moves up to #2 with a bullet. I can’t tell you how excited I am for Mandisa. If Mandisa tops the chart next week, she will be the first female solo singer to go to #1 since Francesca Battistelli (with Free to Be Me, if you don’t count her #1 AC Indicator chart-topping This is the Stuff earlier this year). In addition, she will also be the first Afro-American female singer to top the chart… EVER. Also new to the top 10 are the Sidewalk Prophets with You Loved Me Anyway.

Greatest Gainer honors this week go to Cloverton’s Take Me Into the Beautiful, which moves up 33-27. (I missed out on this one.) Debuts this week include an impressive #30 entrance for Brandon Heath’s The Light in Me; other debuts include Dara McLean’s Suitcases at #41, Kristian Stanfill’s Always at #47, and Byron “Mr. Talkbox” Chambers’ Everything Works Together at #48.
