Contemporary Christian rock band and 2005 Dove Award winner for New Artist of the Year, Building 429, most popularly known for its 2004 hit single, Glory Defined, has released its new single, Listen To The Sound, off INO Records after almost a decade of work with Word Records. Michael Anderson, Jesse Garcia, and Jason Roy, who take their band name from Ephesians 4:29 (“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”), have announced on their official website that both Listen To The Sound and the CD from which it is lifted will be available for pre-order at any of its shows as the band tours the United States. Listen To The Sound the CD drops May 11.
Personally, I really like Listen to the Sound. Its encouraging message will speak to even the secular who aren’t familiar with the message of grace; I believe, though; it will plant seeds in their hearts which will one day bring them to the knowledge of and relationship with Jesus Christ. I also think the melody, with the “ooh-ooh’s” in the background, is catchy, and Christian CHR and AC programmers will readily add this to their playlists.
LISTEN TO THE SOUND Lyrics
Building 429
Are you in over your head?
Are you in water so deep you’re drowning?
Do you think you’ve been left
And there is no one to feel your hurting?
Well, everybody has been there
And everybody’s felt lost
If you’re in over your head
Lift it up
Lift it up
Oh
Listen to the sound of hope that’s rising up
Over your old horizon
Listen to the sound
Listen to the sound
Ooh
And Listen to the sound of a new beginning, oh
This is where the old is ending
Listen to the sound
Listen to the sound
Ooh ooh ooh
I hear you say you’re alone
I hear you saying that you’ll never make it
I’ve got to tell you you’re wrong
Cuz I have been down this path you’re taking
You’ll never know what faith is til you don’t understand
Sometimes it takes the silence to finally hear His plan
Listen to the sound of hope that’s rising up
Over your old horizon
Listen to the sound
Listen to the sound
Ooh
And Listen to the sound of a new beginning, oh
This is where the old is ending
Listen to the sound
Listen to the sound
Ooh ooh ooh
Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
I once was lost
But now am found
Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
I once was lost
But now am found
Listen to the sound of hope that’s rising up
Over your old horizon
Listen to the sound
Listen to the sound
Ooh
And Listen to the sound of a new beginning, oh
This is where the old is ending
Listen to the sound
Listen to the sound
Ooh ooh ooh
His grace is reaching for us
His grace is reaching out
Listen to the sound
Listen to the sound wherever you are
His grace is reaching for us
His grace is reaching out
Listen to the sound
Listen to the sound wherever you are
Hoo hoo hoo
