Smart subscribers looking for a quick word of encouragement to start the day or a dose of refreshing in the middle of it, can now enjoy audio devotions directly via their mobile phone! All you they (I’m on Globe, grr) have to do is dial *8970163 (yes, including that asterisk), and you can listen to a practical word of encouragement that includes a Bible verse and a practical application to challenge, inspire, or refresh you for your daily walk with God.
Users will charged only Php2.50 per call – each audio devotion lasts a little less than a minute – and Php1.00 when they listen to it again. Calling once will automatically subscribe you to the daily content, but you can opt out by texting DEVO OFF to 8970.
Being a very audio-influenced person, I personally have found listening to a message to be more effective than just reading it on a page. I listen to my audio Bible daily on my iPod, and I must congratulate Smart for tapping into the potential of an audio devotional. People read devotionals like Our Daily Bread; a similar audio version – especially for only Php2.50 – is quite useful and very encouraging.
Now I have to find someone with a Smart number so I can hear how it sounds over the phone lines… :)
