Top Christian Songs (Billboard) – May 15 2010

These are the ten best Christian songs, in terms of chart performance and radio airplay, in the United States as of May 8, 2010, according to MercyMe makes it a full month at #1 with All of Creation, setting the stage for a particularly exciting debut on the Billboard 200 with the album from which the single is taken, The Generous Mr. Lovewell. MercyMe is bidding to become the first #1 debut on the Billboard 200 with a full Christian CD. (Apparently, it hasn’t been done.)

There are three songs on the chart that were not there the previous week: Sidewalk Prophets’ You Can Have Me, Satellites and Sirens’ Anchor, and Chasen’s Castaway. Addison Road scores the Greatest Gainer award for its new single, Fight Another Day (up 44-35); also registering significant increases on the chart this week are Tenth Avenue North (Healing Begins, up 23-17), Amy Grant (Better Than a Hallelujah, up 15-10, her first Top 10 hit on the Christian chart since Simple Things peaked at #7 in 2003), the now Michael Tait-led Newsboys (Born Again, up 32-27), and Chris Tomlin (Our God, up 16-12). Ecstatic, too, that Lincoln Brewster’s Power of Your Name rebounds 33-29.
