Chynna Phillips is now a Christian artist! OMG!

BannerThanks to the folks at Billboard, I found out today that Chynna Phillips, one-third of Wilson Phillips, probably my favorite secular musical act of all time, is now a Christian artist, teaming up with Vaughan Penn to form Chynna & Vaughan, a Contemporary Christian duo whose debut single, One Reason (Reunion Records), enters the Hot Christian Songs chart this week at #49.

I’ve been listening to the three song snippets available on their MySpace – including the debut single and title track – and I am going absolutely mad with joy! Driving guitars, airtight harmonies, singable choruses – it’s like Voice of the Beehive meets Indigo Girls and then going Christian! Chynna’s voice sounds stronger than it’s ever been, and Vaughan, who I’m hearing for the first time, has this whiskey and rhum rasp that just explodes with such passion. It doesn’t sound like Wilson Phillips at all, but it’s good! I’m not kidding, it’s really good! Southern rock sensibilities, harmonica solos, it’s just feel-good music with a Christian message. I totally love it!

Chynna & Vaughan One Reason Lyrics after the jump.

ONE REASON
Chynna & Vaughan

I lost You a second ago
Why are you in such a hurry when we just need to take it slow
It’s a struggle to keep up the flow
All caught up in the worry when we just need to let it go
Let it go

I’m a fighter and I don’t like to quit
But I got orders from Heaven (orders from Heaven)
And believe me
I’m listening, I’m listening

Jesus tell me again
What’s it gonna take to sink in
That You’re my one reason
When the world comes crashing down on me
So hard to see
That You’re my one reason

Here in this prison is the key to this heart
Throw down Your anchor of mercy
Hold me steady through this part
Nobody said it’d be easily done
Wrapped in the eye of the storm
There’s a message for everyone
Everyone

It’s harder to do nothing than to do something
Harder to do nothing, nothing, nothing
And believe me
I’m listening
I’m listening

Jesus tell me again (oh yeah!)
What’s it gonna take to sink in
That You’re my one reason (One reason)
When the world comes crashing down on me (Comes crashing down)
So hard to see
That You’re my one reason

At the crossroads
Need to unload
At the crossroads
Need to unload
I’m at the crossroads
Need to unload
I’m at the crossroads crossroads crossroads

And believe me, I’m listening, I’m listening

Jesus tell me again (oh yeah!)
What’s it gonna take to sink in
That You’re my one reason (One reason)
When the world comes crashing down on me (Me)
So hard to see
That You’re my one reason (You are my one reason)

Jesus tell me again (Tell me)
What’s it gonna take to sink in (Sink in, sink in)
That You’re my one reason
When the world comes crashing down on me (Comes crashing down oh)
So hard to see (So hard, so hard
That You’re my one reason

Jesus tell me again (tell me, tell me, what’s it gonna take)
What’s it gonna take to sink in
That You’re my one reason (My one)
When the world comes crashing down on me (On me)
So hard to see (That You’re my, You’re my)
That You’re my one reason
