More than 2,000 of God’s faithful are expected to converge at the ULTRA from November 23 to 25 at the Kerygma Conference, a learning event with the theme You Have The Power: Nourished. Empowered. Unleashed. The force behind it is the team of popular Filipino lay preacher and motivational speaker Bo Sanchez. It’s gonna be legendary.
On Saturday the 24th, a 30-minute afternoon ceremony will recognize eleven songwriters whose original works will make up a commemorative praise and worship album slated for release on the 23rd. It’s all part and parcel of the 2007 Kerygma Songwriting Contest, a praise and worship competition sponsored by Shepherd’s Voice, Bo’s publishing arm.
I attended a briefing for the finalists last Friday, because two of my originals – Superblessed and Magpasalamat (Purihin Ang Panginoon) – made it to the magic ten. (One doesn’t ask a King for small things, and when I requested God to send one song in, He saw fit to send in TWO! It still blows my mind.) It was an absolute pleasure to meet other finalists Boi and Bong (Aking Jesus) and Boni (My Song of Worship). (Yes, that’s right: Bo, Boi, Bong, and Boni. There are way too many names beginning with B.) We were given special gift packs of several Shepherd’s Voice publications, as well as our finalists’ cash award and a certificate entitling us to two complimentary copies of the praise and worship CD.
I honestly cannot begin to tell you how excited I am for this Saturday! Honestly, I’d rank this in my Top 10 most unforgettable moments in my life. Not one, but two of my songs are going to be part of a CD that’s going to be heard in churches throughout the Philippines and Fil-Catholic churches throughout the world.
