Pat Barrett, “The Way (New Horizon)”

Housefires lead singer Pat Barrett has released an acoustic version of his beautiful worship ballad, “The Way (New Horizon).”

The song, which was originally done by Housefires, was written by Barrett with Daniel Bashta and Ben Smith. Easy to sing and wonderfully worshipful, it’s a gorgeous song that should be added to many churches’ worship playlists.

THE WAY (NEW HORIZON) Lyrics
Pat Barrett

Through every battle
Through every heartbreak
Through every circumstance
I believe that You are my fortress
Oh, You are my portion
And You are my hiding place, ohI believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
I believe You are
The way, the truth, the lifeI believe
Through every blessing
Through every promise
Through every breath I take
I believe that You are Provider
Oh, You are Protector
You are the One I love, ohI believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
I believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
I believe You are
Oh, You are
Oh, You areAnd it’s a new horizon and I’m set on You
And You meet me here today with mercies that are new
All my fears and doubts, they can all come too
Because they can’t stay long when I’m here with You
It’s a new horizon and I’m set on You
And You meet me here today with mercies that are new
All my fears and doubts
They can all come too
Because they can’t stay long whenI believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
I believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
I believe You areIt’s a new horizon and I’m set on You
And You meet me here today with mercies that are new
And all my fears and doubts, they can all come too
Because they can’t stay long whenI believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
And I believe You are
The way, the truth, the life
I believe You areSongwriters:

Needtobreathe featuring JOHNNYSWIM, “Forever On Your Side”

Contemporary Christian pop/rock group Needtobreathe has released “Forever On Your Side,” an intensely catchy track featuring JOHNNYSWIM.

Lead vocalist Bear Rinehart sounds incredible on this track, which is aiming to match the phenomenal performance of the band’s recent No.1 hit, “Brother,” featuring Gavin DeGraw. His bandmates Bo Rinehart, Seth Bolt, Josh Lovelace, Randall Harris, and Micah Nichols do a phenomenal job of putting together a radio-friendly CCM track that can easily cross over.

FOREVER ON YOUR SIDE Lyrics
Needtobreathe

I won’t pretend that we can control the night
Or what kind of road we’re on
Or where we will see the light
But right now I’m talking to ya
I’m looking into your eyes
Right now I’m trying to show ya
That we’re gonna be alright
Oh I don’t know what’s around the bend
Oh, all I know is that my love, it knows no end

All these pieces they fall in line
Because I’m forever on your side
Take my hand when you can’t see the light
Cause I’m forever on your side
I will carry you every time
Because I’m forever on your side
Oh I’m forever on your side

They’ll beat you up
But don’t let em keep you down
You’re always tough enough
And I’ll always be around

All these pieces they fall in line
Because I’m forever on your side
Take my hand when you can’t see the light
Cause I’m forever on your side
I will carry you every time
Because I’m forever on your side
Oh I’m forever on your side

Oh I can’t promise that a day will never come
Where the ground beneath us falls out and we got nowhere to run
Oh but you won’t be alone when the water starts to rise up
No you won’t be alone my darling when the rains come

All these pieces they fall in line
Because I’m forever on your side
Take my hand when you can’t see the light
Cause I’m forever on your side
I will carry you every time
Because I’m forever on your side
Oh I’m forever on your side

MercyMe, “Best News Ever”

Contemporary Christian supergroup MercyMe’s new single, “Best News Ever,” is one of the group’s most singable singles in a while.

Written by MercyMe frontman Bart Millard with Barry Graul, Ben Glover, David Garcia, Michael Scheuchzer, Nathan Cochran, Robby Shaffer, and Solomon Olds, “Best News Ever” offers listeners a truly catchy melody.

Its message of hope in Jesus is just what the doctor ordered for Christians needing an extra boost of encouragement.

BEST NEWS EVER Lyrics
MercyMe

Some say, “Don’t give up”
And hope that your good is good enough
Head down, keep on working
If you could earn it, you deserve it
Some say, “Push on through”
After all, it’s the least that you can do
But don’t buy, what they’re selling
It couldn’t be further from the truth

What if I were the one to tell you
That the fight’s already been won
Well, I think your day’s about to get better
What if I were the one to tell you
That the work’s already been done
It’s not good news
It’s the best news ever

Some say, “Don’t ask for help”
God helps the ones who help themselves
Press on, get it right
Otherwise, get left behind
Some say, “He’s keeping score”
So try hard, then try and lean on God
Hold up, if this weren’t true
Explain to me, what the cross is for

What if I were the one to tell you
That the fight’s already been won
Well, I think your day’s about to get better
What if I were the one to tell you
That the work’s already been done
It’s not good news
It’s the best news ever
Best news ever

So won’t you come
Come all you weary and your burdened
You heavy laden and you hurting
For all of you with nothing left
Come and find restWhat if I were the one to tell you
That the fight’s already been won
Well, I think your day’s about to get better

What if I were the one to tell you
That the work’s already been done
It’s not good news
It’s the best news ever
Best news everIt’s not good news
It’s the best news ever
Best news ever
It’s not good news
It’s the best news ever

Josh Wilson, “Borrow (One Day at a Time)”

Contemporary Christian journeyman Josh Wilson has released “Borrow (One Day at a Time)” from his latest release, “Don’t Look Back.”

Wilson’s strength has always been in strong singalong melodies and relatable lyrics, and “Borrow (One Day at a Time)” doesn’t veer far from that tried and tested formula. I imagine that “Borrow” takes inspiration from the old adage that we are living on borrowed time–James 4:13-14 comes to mind, how we “are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes”–and encourages us to live life for the fullest and for God’s glory.

I particularly like the bridge in which Josh speaks to a wide range of people to encourage them. It’s very inclusive, and I enjoyed listening to it immensely. Overall, another fine inclusion to Wilson’s impressive discography of singles.

BORROW (ONE DAY AT A TIME) Lyrics
Josh Wilson

One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say

Sometimes I feel just like I did in the 8th grade
All alone, insecure, and so very afraid
Seems like everybody else they got it figured out
While I’m stuck here, in another nervous breakdown
Life crashes like a panic attack
The fear of the future breaks me in half
I try so hard but it’s a losing fight
I fake a smile in the day, and fall apart at night

I’m lying awake cause I just can’t sleep
I toss and I turn but can’t find no peace
I keep praying to God, He keeps telling me
Don’t worry, don’t worry

Don’t borrow no trouble from tomorrow
You’ll only double your sorrow
You’ll only worry your mind
Don’t borrow no trouble from tomorrow
If you’re gonna learn to follow
You gotta take it
One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say

I wanna learn to hold my life a little looser
Live in the moment instead of in the future
Let tomorrow worry about itself
And be here right now, trust all is well

Cause the flowers and birds they don’t worry a bit
And a good God takes good care of them
And he loves you and me so much more than this
So don’t worry, don’t worry

Don’t borrow no trouble from tomorrow
You’ll only double your sorrow
You’ll only worry your mind
Don’t borrow no trouble from tomorrow
If you’re gonna learn to follow
You gotta take it
One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say

To the weary moms and worn out dads
And the middle school kid who’s always picked last
You gotta take it, you gotta take it
One day at a time

To the downcast and doubters and misfits like me
To the addicts who are fighting through recovery
You gotta take it, you gotta take it
One day at a time

To the struggling saints on the narrow road
When you’re anxious, depressed and feeling alone
You gotta take it, you gotta take it
One day at a time

To all of God’s children, let’s never forget
We’re forgiven and free, but we are not home yet
We gotta take it, we gotta take it
One day, one day, one day

Don’t borrow no trouble from tomorrow
You’ll only double your sorrow
You’ll only worry your mind
Don’t borrow no trouble from tomorrow
If you’re gonna learn to follow
You gotta take it
One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say
One day, one day at a time, say

For King and Country, “Joy”

Contemporary Christian duo For King and Country has released its new single, “Joy,” in anticipation of its new set, “Burn the Ships,” out soon. Written by band members Joel and Luke Smallbone with Ben Glover, Matt Hales, Seth Mosley, Stephen Blake Kanicka, and Ted Tjornhom, “Joy” reminds us that a perspective change is all we need in the face of wild circumstances. The call for joy is understated by the TV news program-themed video, which makes a case for how we can “broadcast” our joy in Jesus. The song is doing pretty well; it’s peaked at No.2 on Billboard’s Christian Songs chart.

Mandisa, “Good News”

Contemporary Christian singer Mandisa has released the latest single from her album, “Out of the Dark.” Titled “Good News,” the song was birthed from Mandisa’s experience of sharing with the world the acceptance of Jesus Christ by her brother John as the latter’s personal Lord and Saviour.

The joy experienced by Mandisa is captured well in this ebullient praise party jam, written by the singer with AJ Prius and Matthew West. One of the outstanding tracks off Mandisa’s latest release, “Good News” bodes well for another Top 10 hit for the former American Idol alum.

Phil Wickham, “Great Things”

Contemporary Christian singer and songwriter Phil Wickham has released his new digital single, “Great Things.” In the past ten years, Wickham has consistently made singalong pop anthems that speak life to his fan base, including the number one hit, “This is Amazing Grace,” and his last carrier single, “Your Love Awakens Me” (off the album “Children of God.”

With “Great Things,” Wickham has crafted yet another catchy, radio-friendly praise track that sings of the great things Jesus has done. Easily singable and almost skillfully designed for congregational use in churches, “Great Things” continues to broaden Wickham’s crossover appeal, and is yet again another example why this journeyman remains to be one of Contemporary Christian music’s finest, if not underappreciated, male vocalists of his generation.
