MercyMe, “Best News Ever”

Contemporary Christian supergroup MercyMe’s new single, “Best News Ever,” is one of the group’s most singable singles in a while.

Written by MercyMe frontman Bart Millard with Barry Graul, Ben Glover, David Garcia, Michael Scheuchzer, Nathan Cochran, Robby Shaffer, and Solomon Olds, “Best News Ever” offers listeners a truly catchy melody.

Its message of hope in Jesus is just what the doctor ordered for Christians needing an extra boost of encouragement.

BEST NEWS EVER Lyrics
MercyMe

Some say, “Don’t give up”
And hope that your good is good enough
Head down, keep on working
If you could earn it, you deserve it
Some say, “Push on through”
After all, it’s the least that you can do
But don’t buy, what they’re selling
It couldn’t be further from the truth

What if I were the one to tell you
That the fight’s already been won
Well, I think your day’s about to get better
What if I were the one to tell you
That the work’s already been done
It’s not good news
It’s the best news ever

Some say, “Don’t ask for help”
God helps the ones who help themselves
Press on, get it right
Otherwise, get left behind
Some say, “He’s keeping score”
So try hard, then try and lean on God
Hold up, if this weren’t true
Explain to me, what the cross is for

What if I were the one to tell you
That the fight’s already been won
Well, I think your day’s about to get better
What if I were the one to tell you
That the work’s already been done
It’s not good news
It’s the best news ever
Best news ever

So won’t you come
Come all you weary and your burdened
You heavy laden and you hurting
For all of you with nothing left
Come and find restWhat if I were the one to tell you
That the fight’s already been won
Well, I think your day’s about to get better

What if I were the one to tell you
That the work’s already been done
It’s not good news
It’s the best news ever
Best news everIt’s not good news
It’s the best news ever
Best news ever
It’s not good news
It’s the best news ever

MercyMe, “I Can Only Imagine (The Movie Session)”

Contemporary Christian pop/rock band MercyMe has released its new single, “I Can Only Imagine (The Movie Session)” by MercyMe. This version was recorded in anticipation of the movie of the same title, which was released yesterday, March 16. Based on the true-life story of MercyMe frontman Bart Millard, “I Can Only Imagine” is a beautiful illustration of the power of forgiveness and the gospel.

Ryan Stevenson featuring Bart Millard of MercyMe, “No Matter What”

Contemporary Christian singer and rapper Ryan Stevenson has combined forces with MercyMe’s lead vocalist, Bart Millard, to come up with his new single, a throwback-flavored encouragement anthem titled “No Matter What.”

“No Matter What” starts (and ends!) with le old school vinyl record scratch, and segues into a 50s-style ballad. Inspired by 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, “No Matter What” follows up “The Gospel.”

“As we were working on this new record,” says Stevenson, “a reoccurring theme I felt the Lord continually whisper to my heart was ‘beloved identity.’ I, like many of us, grew up in the church- a religious environment, where we weren’t necessarily nurtured and taught about Gods grace, patience and compassion. As I continue to grow and experience life, the truth I continue to encounter is ‘I am His son, no matter what.’ It is easy to fall into the trap of performance based relationship with God when we’ve been taught in religious environments that He’s mostly disappointed with us. This song hopefully will encourage all of us that even though we struggle, Jesus is overseeing the process.”

What an inspiring track!

NO MATTER WHAT Lyrics
Ryan Stevenson featuring Bart Millard of MercyMe

A lot of us grew up believing
At any moment we could lose it all
And at the drop of a hat
God might turn his back and move on
A lot of us feel like we blew it
Thinking that we’re just too far gone
But I want you to know
There’s still a hope for you now

No matter what you’ve done
You can’t erase His love
Nothing can change it
You’re not separated
No matter what

There’s never been a better time to get honest
There’s never been a better time to get clean
So come as you are
Run to the cross and be free
Oh be free

No matter what you’ve done
You can’t erase His love
Nothing can change it
You’re not separated
No matter where you run
He’s always holding on
You’re still a daughter
You’re still a son No matter what

Don’t know what you’ve been taught
Don’t know what you’ve been told
All I know is my God
Will never let go of you
And I don’t know what you’ve seen
Don’t know what you’ve been through
All I know is my God
Will never let go of you
He’ll never let go

No matter what you’ve done
You can’t erase His love
Nothing can change it
You’re not separated
No matter where you run
He’s always holding on
You’re still a daughter
You’re still a son
No matter what

MercyMe, “Happy Dance”

Contemporary Christian supergroup MercyMe has released its hot new single, Happy Dance. Accompanied by a video that matches the awesomeness of the song in sheer awkwardness, Happy Dance is a brilliant track that is virtually guaranteed to get believers up and dance. Coming from its more worshipful anthem tracks, this, like predecessor Shake, is easily one of MercyMe’s most satisfying uptempo releases.

HAPPY DANCE Lyrics
MercyMe

Hey, you
In the corner shaking in those boots
You got one, one for two
You got the shaking right, but the fear won’t do
We always say that we have unspeakable joy
So let our feet do all the talking when our words fall short

We’ve got reason to get up
Reason to get down
He done traded our sin for joy
And now, that joy wants out
Happy dance
Happy dance

Hey, yeah you
In the back of the room with those concrete shoes
It’s okay, to cut loose
Oh, it ain’t about how you move, but what moves you
We’re so consumed with what we think we’re supposed to be
That we stop living like we know that we’re free

We’ve got reason to get up
Reason to get down
He done traded our sin for joy
And now, that joy wants out
Happy dance
Happy dance

Let me see, those hands
If the good Lord saved ya
Get up, get down
‘Cause He done changed ya
Let me see, those hands
If the good Lord saved ya
Get up, get down
‘Cause He done changed ya

We’ve got reason to get up
Reason to get down
He done traded our sin for joy
And now, that joy wants out
Happy dance
Happy dance

MercyMe, “Dear Younger Me”

Contemporary Christian supergroup MercyMe has released Dear Younger Me as the fourth release single off their critically acclaimed eighth release, Welcome to the New. This wistful, mostly acoustic song tugs at the heartstrings with the encouraging message of salvation and hope that comes with a life in Christ.

DEAR YOUNGER ME Lyrics
MercyMe

Dear younger me
Where do I start
If I could tell you everything that I have learned so far
Then you could be
One step ahead
Of all the painful memories still running thru my head
I wonder how much different things would be
Dear younger me, dear younger me

Dear younger me
I cannot decide
Do I give some speech about how to get the most out of your life
Or do I go deep
And try to change
The choices that you’ll make cuz they’re choices that made me
Even though I love this crazy life
Sometimes I wish it was a smoother ride
Dear younger me, dear younger me

If I knew then what I know now
Condemnation would’ve had no power
My joy my pain would’ve never been my worth
If I knew then what I know now
Would’ve not been hard to figure out
What I would’ve changed if I had heard

Dear younger me
It’s not your fault
You were never meant to carry this beyond the cross
Dear younger me

You are holy
You are righteous
You are one of the redeemed
Set apart a brand new heart
You are free indeed

Every mountain every valley
Thru each heartache you will see
Every moment brings you closer
To who you were meant to be
Dear younger me, dear younger me

You are holy
You are righteous
You are one of the redeemed
Set apart a brand new heart
You are free indeed [x3]

Speaking of The Voice, the new crop of contestants are starting to make their presence on the chart felt, led by Emily Ann Roberts, whose worshipful performance of In the Garden results in a No.3 debut for the sole female member of Team Blake.
