Mary Mary, “Go Get It”

Mary Mary, “Go Get It”

Record-breaking gospel duo Mary Mary has released Go Get it, their new 2012 single and the title track of the upcoming television show on the We channel. Almost all Mary Mary singles have resonated with me, and Go Get It is certainly one of them, one of my favorite carriers and arguably the best since Shackles (Praise You). The encouraging message, coupled with Erika and Tina’s trademark powerhouse vocals, makes this mid-tempo R&B ditty one of the freshest gospel releases thus far in 2012. Go Mary Mary!

GO GET IT Lyrics
Mary Mary

It’s like you’re lookin through a telescope
You see where you gone be
Growin’ gettin’ better
You’re not the person they see
Can’t be mad at the things you’ve been through
‘Cuz they built your muscle
Now you’re stronger than you’ve ever been
They can’t stop your hustle

Yo’ faith ain’t never small
That’s what brought you this far
See you got your dreams and you got your prayers
And you got yo’ God, He’s gone take you there
See everybody has a season and I’ve believe this one’s yours
‘Coz you’ve been working, waiting
Rhis what you’ve been praying for

Go get it
Go get it
Go get your blessing
Go get it
Go get it
Go get it
It’s your time (it’s your time)
It’s your time (it’s your time)
It’s your time

You were made to live a good life and that’s what i believe
so hit the floor say a prayer start working you got to do something

It’s alright to crawl before you walk
It’s alright to walk before you run
But if you wanna get what you never got gotta do something that you never done

Go get it
Go get it
Go get your blessing
Go get it
Go get it
Go get it
It’s your time (it’s your time)
It’s your time (it’s your time)
It’s your time

You’ve been qualified
By this mercy multiplied
You cannot be denied
‘Coz you’re finally certified
It’s official
Go ahead and testify
He’s gone bless you
You gone bless me
Now God be glorified

Go get it
Go get it
Go get your blessing
Go get it
Go get it
Go get it
It’s your time (it’s your time)
It’s your time (it’s your time)
It’s your time

Hawk Nelson, “One Shot”

Hawk Nelson, “One Shot”

Hawk Nelson’s Crazy Love has birthed a new single, One Shot, which frankly makes me giddy excited because it’s the best track on the album! One Shot is an inspirational song, yes, but it’s packaged in a raw, guitar-driven, punk-rock anthem that will have people moshing in their churches (ummm…. yeah). Seriously, though, great track, so excited that One Shot will finally be released to Christian AC!

ONE SHOT Lyrics
Hawk Nelson

It’s 2 o’clock
Your eyes are shut
Your phone alarm is going off
The sun is up
You’re still in bed
Another day gone again

This isn’t what you wanted, was it?
I know you’ve got a pulse
Let’s get it started

You’ve got one shot
All you got
Take it now
You gotta get up, get up, get up
oh-wo-oh-wo-oh
One life
Live it right
Keep on moving forward
You’ve got one shot
Everybody it’s your time
I wanna see you on the other side
You’ve got one shot
All you got
Live out loud
Come on wake up, wake up, wake up before it’s over

You got a truck
Take a drive
Go somewhere to feel alive
You got a dream
Say a prayer
A little faith will get ya there

This is what you wanted, promise
Never go back to the way you started

You’ve got one shot
All you got
Take it now
You gotta get up, get up, get up
oh-wo-oh-wo-oh
One life
Live it right
Keep on moving forward
You’ve got one shot
Everybody it’s your time
I wanna see you on the other side
You’ve got one shot
All you got
Live out loud
Come on wake up, wake up, wake up before it’s over
Wake up before it’s over

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

You’ve got one shot
All you got
Take it now
You gotta get up, get up, get up
oh-wo-oh-wo-oh
One life
Live it right
Keep on moving forward (Whoa!)
You’ve got one shot
Everybody it’s your time
I wanna see you on the other side
You’ve got one shot
All you got
Live out loud
Come on wake up, wake up, wake up before it’s over
Wake up before it’s over

Group 1 Crew featuring Christ August, “He Said”

Group 1 Crew featuring Christ August, “He Said”

Group 1 Crew’s new single, He Said, features Dove Award winner Chris August, and is arguably one of the best songs out of the three-member now two-member Contemporary Christian R&B/pop/rap band. August’s clear, crystal voice certainly does stand out, but Blanca Reyes’ chorus, overflowing with passion and faith, is so convincing and full that He Said is irresistible to the Contemporary Christian pop aficionado. It’s not exactly like most of the recent singles from Outta Space Love – it’s lifted off the upcoming album Outta Space Love: Bigger Love Edition – but it’s a fantastic pop song. I liked it instantly, and here’s the brutal truth: I think Group 1 Crew’s He Said deserves to go all the way to #1. Way to go, G1C! You have a clear winner with this one!

HE SAID Lyrics
Group 1 Crew featuring Chris August

So your life feels like it don’t make sense
And you think to yourself, “I’m a good person
So why do these things keep happening
Why you gotta deal with them
You may be knowcked down now
But don’t forget what he said
What he said
He said

“I won’t give you more
More than you can take in
I might let you bend
But I won’t let you break
You know oh
I’ll never ever let you go”
Don’t you forget what He said
Don’t forget what He said
He said

Who you are and what you’re going throughn (yeah)
So don’t let it get the best of you
Cuz God knows everything you need
So you ain’t gotta worry
You may be knocked down now
But just believe what He said
He said

“I won’t give you more
More than you can take in
I might let you bend
But I won’t let you break
You know oh
I’ll never ever let you go”
Don’t you forget what He said
Don’t forget what He said
He said

Don’t fear when you go through the fire
Hang on when it’s down to the wire
Stand tall and remember what He said

“I won’t give you more
More than you can take in
I might let you bend
But I won’t let you break

“I won’t give you more
More than you can take in
I might let you bend
But I won’t let you break
You know oh
I’ll never ever let you go”
Don’t you forget what He said
Don’t forget what He said
He said
Don’t forget what He said
Don’t forget what He said
Don’t forget what He said
I won’t give you more
He said

Sidewalk Prophets, “Live Like That”

Sidewalk Prophets, “Live Like That”

Sidewalk Prophets’ Live Like That, the carrier single of its new album out March 27 2012 in digital and CD formats across the world, is officially my favorite CCM song of 2012 so far! I love this song!

Live Like That is a powerful anthem about taking every moment in one’s life and using that as a moment to glorify Christ. It’s asking the one question that should be on every Christian’s minds: for what exactly am I here on earth, and is everything I’m doing bringing glory back to the Creator to Whom I’m grateful for this life? Have I impacted lives in a positive way? When people struggle with loneliness, disease, anger, do I shine God’s light on them and bring them comfort in the name of Jesus?

Do people see Christ in me?

There is a rawness in Live Like That that reaches deep into the listener’s soul. It’s not just the emotion in lead singer David Frey’s voice. It’s not just the simple yet powerfully poetic lyrics (my favorite line: Recklessly abandoned, never holding back, I wanna live like that. (Brought tears to my eyes.) For me, it’s how Sidewalk Prophets’ Live Like That captures the deep yearning in my soul to live a life that would please God, not out of reward, but out of gratitude, because we have experienced grace, the kind of grace the world needs to know about.

On a recent blog post on its website, Sidewalk Prophets quotes Hebrews 12:1-2 (Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.). The writer of Hebrews certainly knew what he was talking about when he encouraged us to let Christ live through us; Sidewalk Prophets has taken the essence of that verse and put it into a song so powerful that Christians everywhere cannot help but be inspired and moved. And end of day, isn’t that what Christian music is supposed to do?

Sidewalk Prophets. Live Like That. #1 in 2012. Mark my words.

LIVE LIKE THAT LYrics
Sidewalk Prophets

Sometimes I think
What will people say of me
When I’m only just a memory
When I’m home where my soul belongs

Was I loved
Would no one else show up?
Was I Jesus to the least of us?
Was my worship more than just a song?

I wanna live like that
And give it all I have
So that everything I say and do
Points to You
If love is who I am
Then this is where I’ll stand
Reckless abandoned
Never holding back
I wanna live like that
I wanna live like that

Am I proof that You are who You say You are
That grace can really change a heart
Do I live like Your love is true

I wanna live like that
And give it all I have
So that everything I say and do
Points to You
If love is who I am
Then this is where I’ll stand
Reckless abandoned
Never holding back
I wanna live like that
I wanna live like that

I wanna show the world the love You gave for me
(I wanna live like that)
Longing for the world to know the glory of the King

I wanna live like that
And give it all I have
So that everything I say and do
Points to You
If love is who I am
Then this is where I’ll stand
(Where I stand)
Reckless abandoned
Never holding back
I wanna live like that
I wanna live like that

Dara Maclean, “Free”

Dara Maclean, “Free”

Fresh off the heels of her Top 20 hit Suitcases, new Contemporary Christian recording artist Dara Maclean has released Free, another upbeat vocally driven winner from her debut CD, You Got My Attention. Maclean certainly has grabbed the attention of Christian AC programmers, who are quickly adding Free into their playlists and making the new track one of the fastest growing songs at Christian AC the past two weeks. Personally, I think Suitcases is a superior single to Free, but there is something about the message, that tinkling piano line, that interesting bass, and, of course, Maclean’s unique vocal delivery, that makes Free every bit a winner as its predecessor. Methinks we can safely assume Maclean will rack up another Top 20 hit in her hands, which would be a great thing heading into the homestretch of final nominations for the 2012 Dove Awards. Methinks Maclean deserves at least three tips o’ the hat: New Artist of the Year, Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for Suitcases, and Female Vocalist of the Year. Best of luck to you, Dara.

FREE Lyrics
Dara Maclean

Hurting heart and broken wings
Cannot stop Your love from always finding me
No more days wasting away
I finally realize the gift inside of me

My strength alone will never be enough
But Your arms keep lifting me up

You tell me I’ve been made free
You give me everything I need to walk in my dreams
You whisper words that free my soul
You’re the reason I have hope
You’re everything I need and more
You made me
You made me free

I was caged in, then You opened
Every door that held me bound and You gave me the key
No more pressure I can just breathe
The girl I tried so hard to be, has always been me

My strength alone will never be enough
But Your arms keep lifting me up

You tell me I’ve been made free
You give me everything I need to walk in my dreams
You whisper words that free my soul
You’re the reason I have hope
You’re everything I need and more

Now I’m free to love, free to live,
Free to take my life and give it all to You
Whoa

You tell me I’ve been made free
You give me everything I need to walk in my dreams
You whisper words that free my soul
You’re the reason I have hope
You’re everything I need and more
You made me
You made me free
You made me
You made me free
