Hot Star Large Fried Chicken

Last week, my family and I walked into Hot Star Chicken on Banawe Avenue in Quezon City, eager to try its much-touted “large fried chicken.” We were not disappointed!

Hot Star Large Fried Chicken is a fried chicken shop originally from Taiwan. Known for its “specially-marinated and cut-to-perfection XXL fried chicken fillet as big as your face,” Hot Star Large Fried Chicken Philippines really had large chicken! Caths was so surprised to see her chicken fillet, easily as big as both her hands, and my kids, too, were shocked at its size.

Luckily, the chicken was just as big in flavor as it was in size! I was pleased with my crunchy chicken fillet, while Caths really enjoyed her spicy original chicken fillet. Also of note is the almond crush, a refreshing almond-flavored drink that Caths also found delicious. (There is a black gulaman variety that none of us wanted to try. Hihi.)

The kids were themselves happy with their chicken popcorn–although ironically, the portion sizing of the chicken popcorn left much to be desired, it didn’t look like much compared to the XXXL chicken–and the chicken skin side dish (Php45) was great value but a little too oily for my taste.

Still, we went back another time this week. Twice in one week? Yep, that’s how much we enjoyed it. Y’all should check it out. Aside from their Banawe branch, they also have branches at Robinson’s Galleria, Blue Bay Macapagal, and Katipunan.
