Contemporary Christianm pop-rock band BarlowGirl has released Hope Will Lead Us On, the group’s final single; sisters Alyssa, Rebecca, and Lauren Barlow announced last month that the band would retire after the release of this single, and the girls are not actively promoting this single to Christian radio. I, for one, am saddened to hear this news; the band’s most successful single, I Need You to Love Me, continued to be one of my favorite Christian songs of all time.
With its unusual three-girl roster and an enviable discography that included Never Alone, the longest-running No. 1 song in 2004 on Radio and Records Christian Hit Radio (CHR) and Christian Rock charts, BarlowGirl quickly and successfully established a niche for itself that would stand strong for almost ten years before the dissolution of the band. With the release of the radio-friendly, piano lines-driven Hope Will Lead Us On, BarlowGirl rides off into the sunset leaving fans sad yet hopeful for what is to come for the individual members of this great band.
