Psy, “Gangnam Style”

Popular K-Pop singer Psy has suddenly hit international stardom with the viral success of his latest single, Gangnam Style. The tongue-in-cheek song and video – which I saw on Day One, by the way – has taken the world by storm with its hilarious content and irresistible melody and instrumentation.

The video features several fellow K-Pop artists, including 4Minute’s Hyuna, Big Bang’s Seungri and Daesung, and K-Pop host du jour Yoo Jae Suk. The video is currently number two on the YouTube 100 – right after fellow international sensation Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe – and he’s just getting started. The most unlikely candidate for Hallyu stardom seems to be in the right place at the right time. Good on ya, Psy.
