Contemporary Christian band Newworldson has released Today, a new track off the album Rebel Transmission.
While not as instantly catchy as Learning to Be the Light, Newworldson’s recent Top 10 hit, Today has its own merits. First off, it captures very eloquently the feelings of a person who is grateful to have God in his life and is passionate about wanting God to take complete and total control over his life.
Second, the melody is instantly catchy and very singable. The tempo is a nontraditionally slow – it’s not a ballad, but it’s not an uptempo song either – so it takes a little getting to for someone like me who likes my ballads slow and my uptempo songs fast.
Ultimately, though, Today should easily find a market in Christian AC and Christian Soft AC/Inspo, where I predict a Top 25 finish for the former and a Top 20 finish for the latter.
