Chris August, “Battle”

Chris August, “Battle”

Contemporary Christian singer-songwriter and GMA Dove Award winner Chris August has followed up his #1 hit Starry Night and his Top 10 hit 7×70 with Battle, another winning track off No Far Away, August’s Dove-nominated debut CD. I’ve listened to Battle – the appropriate third single, given the hiccup that was Candy Wrap, but every musician deserves a novelty now and then – and I think it will perform just as well as the two previous singles. August is one of CCM’s most promising artists – he won the Best New Artist plum at the recent Dove Awards – and I think that Battle should continue to become his third straight Top 10 hit easy.

BATTLE Lyrics
Chris August

There’s a battle between good and evil
And it’s raging inside of me
There’s a struggle – it’s God and the devil
It’s Love against the Enemy

Whoa no
I’m not giving up now
Whoa

Life’s a fight of wrong and right
That’s tearing me apart
Oh but what the cross has done
Yeah the world will try to battle for my heart
But the war is already won

There’s a snake that’s hiding in the garden
There’s a beautiful apple tree
There is trouble on the horizon
But I’m claiming victory
Whoa
I’m not giving in now
Whoa

Life’s a fight of wrong and right
That’s tearing me apart
Oh but what the cross has done
Yeah the world will try to battle for my heart
But the war is already won

Whoa
I’m not giving up now
Whoa
I’m not giving in

Life’s a fight of wrong and right
That’s tearing me apart
Oh but what the cross has done
Yeah the world will try to battle for my heart
But the war is already won
