Francesca Battistelli, “Motion of Mercy”

Francesca Battistelli, “Motion of Mercy”

Contemporary Christian superstar Francesca Battistelli has released Motion of Mercy, the second single off her sophomore release, Hundred More Years. Decidedly different from the whimsy of This is the Stuff, Motion of Mercy is a moving mid-tempo ballad with an instantly singable, powerfully anthemic chorus, catchy verse melodies, a passionate delivery, jangling guitars, and Battistelli’s signature thought-provoking lyrics. Motion of Mercy recalls Beautiful Beautiful, Battistelli’s previous “ballad” efforts, as opposed to her stellar twin hits, Free to Be Me and I’m Letting Go, and does it delightfully.

If you still don’t have a copy of Hundred More Years, you are missing out on one of 2011′s best Christian album releases. Motion of Mercy will easily be another Top 10 for Francesca Battistelli – I’m going to venture a Top 3 finish, with #1 not out of the question, it depends on who’s going up against her – and I guarantee you will enjoy the heck out of Hundred More Years.

MOTION OF MERCY Lyrics
Francesca Battistelli

I was poor I was weak
I was the definition of the spiritually
Bankrupt condition
So in need of help

I was unsatisfied
Hungry and thirsty
When You rushed to my side
So unworthy
Still You gave yourself away

That’s the motion of mercy
Changing the way and the why we are
That’s the motion of mercy
Moving my heart

Now I’m filled by a love
That calls me to action
I was empty before now I’m drawn to compassion
And to give myself away

That’s the motion of mercy
Changing the way and the why we are
That’s the motion of mercy
Moving my heart

Living for the lost
Loving ’til it hurts
No matter what the cost
Like You loved me first
That’s the motion of mercy

God give me strength to give something for nothing
I wanna be a glimpse of the Kingdom that’s coming soon

That’s the motion of mercy
Changing the way and the why we are
That’s the motion of mercy
Moving my heart
