Ayiesha Woods, “Come Back”

Ayiesha Woods, “Come Back”

Contemporary Christian singer-songwriter Ayiesha Woods has come back, so to speak, with an iTunes exclusive, Come Back! Ayiesha’s Come Back dropped on February 1 on iTunes, and I rushed to purchase it to give it a listen, because this was the first new product from Ayiesha since 2008′s Love Like This, which birthed Alive and the title track, one of my favorite songs of 2008. (Download Love Like This for free here.) (Happy, from Ayiesha’s stellar debut, Introducing Ayiesha Woods, was the #1 single of the year on my personal chart for 2006.)

Come Back is a solid song about holding on in faith that Jesus will return one day for His faithful believers. A steady guitar rhythm, an anthemic chorus – Ayiesha does this so well, check out Love Like This and Happy, plus Big Enough and Alive – and a solid, memorable melody ensure the possibility of this song doing well on Christian CHR radio. Unfortunately – or fortunately, it depends on your perspective – Ayiesha seems to have been dropped by her record label Gotee (why, TobyMac, WHY?), so she’s promoting this one independently. Please buy a copy of Come Back and support this fabulously creative, incredibly talented Christian artist.

COME BACK Lyrics
Ayiesha Woods

I know You had to go away for a little while
But You sent Your comforter out of Your kindness
And every now and again, I need remindin’
That You’re the kind of God Who always keeps His promise

‘Coz you’re not like men
And you can’t lie
So I’m holding on ‘coz I still believe

That You will come back for me
You’ll come back for me
You went away but I know someday
Someday soon that You’ll
Come back for me

Oh yeah

I know You sit high and You look low
This world is desperate for You
So many tumble
But there’s a love You offer and forgiveness
Plus eternity but
You won’t let me miss it

I know You’re coming soon
So I’m holding on
‘Coz I still believe

That You will come back for me
You’ll come back for me
You went away but I know someday
Someday soon that You’ll
Come back for me

Oh yeah

Don’t know the hour or the day
But I can feel it
My hope has truly made a way
So I can see it

When You will come back for me
You’ll come back for me
You’ll come back for me
You’ll come back for me
You went away but I know someday
You went away but I know someday
You went away but I know someday
Someday soon that You’ll
Come back for me
