Mikeschair, “Keep Changing the World”

Contemporary Christian band Mikeschair, best known for its hit “Can’t Take Away,” has released a new single, a great track titled Keep Changing the World. Lifted off their 2009 self-titled CD, Keep Changing the World dwells on our responsibility as Christians to be salt and light. Curb Records (and No Other Name labelmate) Mikeschair puts its money where its mouth is; they have an organization called mikestable, which encourages the band’s fans to partner with Food for the Hungry to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate.

Keep Changing the World is a solid effort, one of the nine most added tracks at Christian AC, and for good reason. Its singable melody and relevant subject matter – remember what a hit Brandon Heath had with Give Me Your Eyes – could make Keep Changing the World a bigger hit than Can’t Take Away. Rapper Lecrae adds a bit of unexpected urban flavor to the track; always a pleasure to see a different musical style come out of left field in a song. For me, though, the highlight is the intro. Those gorgeous strings!!

KEEP CHANGING THE WORLD Lyrics
Mikeschair

Something here is wrong
There are children without homes
But we just move along to take care of our own
There’s so much suffering just outside our door
A cry so deafening
We just can’t ignore

To all the people who are fighting for the broken
All the people who keep holding on to love
All the people who reaching for the lonely
Keep changing the world

Take a look around
Before the sun goes out
What’s lost can still be found
It’s not too late now
It only takes one spark to make the fire burn
So reach inside your heart and let this be the start

Chorus

I see you changing the world
Every boy
Every girl
Step up!

I see the sun coming up
It’s a brighter day
Let’s show the world that love is a better way
So lend a hand join the fight
‘Cause time is ticking away

Chorus
