“Freedom” breaks free at #4

Mandisa’s new album, Freedom, debuts on the Billboard 200 at #83, selling a little over 7,000 copies of her sophomore effort. It’s good enough for 4th on the Christian albums chart, great for 73rd on the Digital Albums chart, but a far cry from the 17,000 copies True Beauty sold on its first week.

I have to admit I’m a little concerned by these figures. However, I trust that as My Deliverer continues to pick up on Christian radio, and more people hear about the timeless message of hope on He Is With You and You Wouldn’t Cry (Andrew’s Song), album sales ought to pick up.

If only American Idol had allowed her to sing…!
