Mayor Lim abandons son, and I couldn’t be happier
According to this article, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim will not lift a finger to help his 44-year-old son Manuel, who was busted last Friday for trying to sell shabu to an undercover agent.
He refused to answer questions about the arrest, but when asked if he had called his father, he said: “No, I did not bother. I knew he himself would arrest and charge me.”
I am encouraged by Mayor Lim’s sticking to his “The law applies to all, or not at all” credo. His son commits a crime, is caught, and will be held accountable for that crime. No padrino or nepotism system, no one exempt from the law if one tries to make our society worse off.
If only that law and steadfast adherence to one’s values were applicable to all public servants. *sigh*

That’s very noble of him. I always liked Mayor Lim. hehe
Integrity in every sense of the word. I can just imagine how difficult this is for him as a father.
How sure are we that he’s really keeping out of helping his son? He may have other people doing it for him while keeping his reputation clean, right?
Tiffany: We can never truly be sure, but I can tell you this: secrets are always temporary. You can keep them for a while, but you can bet, sooner or later, that these things will be brought to light.
Mark 4:22 says, “for there is nothing hidden but it must be disclosed, nothing kept secret except to be brought to light.” Furthermore, Matthew 10:26-27 tells us, “there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the housetops.”
If Mayor Lim ever did something in the past like what you’re suggesting, sooner or later, somehow, some way, people will learn about it. That Mayor Lim was - or is - able to hide his “baho” about his preferential treatment of his family, is testament to two things: either he’s been really good at it so far, and I trust he will be found out sooner or later, or two, he doesn’t do it. I’m inclined to believe the latter.
Believe me, I was a Mayor Lim hater for quite some time. (Check my archives to see why.) My God, however, is a God of second chances, and I see why Mayor Lim deserved well my second chance. I trust he is clean in this particular aspect of his public service, and if he isn’t, I trust my God will expose him in due time. Ganoon lang yun.
